Texan hero motorists rescue babies from overturned car in flash flood

Two children were rescued from an overturned car on a Texas highway during a torrential rainstorm. The family of Philip Ocheltree reportedly flipped their car into a flooded ditch close to Myrtle Springs on 29 April. A group of passers-by then dragged the children to safety, before helping to resuscitate them. According to a Facebook post by Ocheltree, both the children are now in a stable condition. May 2, 2017

Venezuelas socialist President Nicolas Maduro has called for a rewriting of the countrys constitution in a bid to quell the ongoing protests against his government. Anti-government protests continued for a second month on May Day, as the opposition want a general election to try to end 18 years of socialist rule. Felix, the office cat of Londons Royal Docks Management Authority, had a lucky escape when she fell into the Thames on 30 April. In a video shared to the Royal Docks Facebook page, a man named as Scott, an engineering and operations manager, is seen rushing to the cats rescue, and pulling it out of the water. The founder of Persian-language Gem TV Saeed Karimian was shot dead in Istanbul. According to Doğan news agency, Karimians car was stopped by a Jeep and shots were fired. The Jeep was later found abandoned and burned.Initial police findings point to a financial disagreement as the motive for the assassination.Irans government has accused Gem TVs satellite channels of promoting Western values.
