Jharkhand Chief Hemant Soren reopens coal mine in rebel infested Latehar

Latehar, Nov 24 (ANI): Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, reopened Jharkhand Mineral Development Corporation (JSMDC) owned Sikni coal mine recently in Latehar district which paved way for a large number of jobs in the rebel-infested district. The mine operations were closed since September 2011, after the coal deposits on the land allotted to the coal mine got exhausted. The mine operations were stopped over the issue of a mining lease for fresh stretches and lack of compliance on part of JSMDC. At least 40,000 families had been directly or indirectly affected by the closure. These families included employees of the coal mine and transporters.

Manipur's cultural festival attracts huge crowd

Imphal, Nov 24 (ANI): The ongoing Sangai Festival 2013 in Manipur is attracting huge crowd as people are thronging the venue to watch traditional dance performances, exhibition of handicrafts, martial arts and indulge in some exotic music and indigenous food. Sangai festival, which is held annually, kicked off on November 21 at Hapta Kangjeibung, Palace Compound in Imphal. Most of the visitors at the festival, especially children, were seen wearing the unique symbol of Sangai festival - a head gear of the antlered deer Sangai.

BJP questions Congress' inaction on 'issues of importance'

Jaipur, Nov 24 (ANI): Addressing the mediapersons in Jaipur, BJP Spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad targeted Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and said that instead of talking on important issue, Gandhi is targeting BJP calling the party as 'poisonous'. He questioned Manmohan Singh government as to why they are not talking about the terrorism threat in the nation and taking the issue so lightly. Further, talking about the allegations by the Suspended IAS officer Pradeep Sharma on Narendra Modi, he said that there is no point of raising the issue after years, without any political benefits coming out of it.

He said that the whole investigation is a drama by the Bengal CM and that the arrest of Ghosh is a part of the same. He said that Ghosh was close to Banerjee and he was taken in party after he became the CEO of the Saradha Group.

Rural Housing Scheme successful in Maoist-affected Odisha

Gajapati, Nov 24 (ANI): Overcoming the fear of Maoists in Odisha, villagers in Gajapati district came out to avail the central government’s ‘Indira Awas Yojana’ (Rural housing scheme). It is noteworthy that Maoists have a stronghold in Gajapati district where welfare projects generally do not succeed due to Maoist influence. But, villagers are taking up the rural housing scheme in S. Kurlunda village of the district, willingly. Block development officer of the village N.C. Mishra said that financial assistance has been provided to the people to construct houses.

New Delhi, Nov 24 (ANI): A day after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia revealed that he has received a message from someone saying Rs 12 crore were given for the sting operations, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirti Azad on Sunday said that to hide one lie they are telling 100 lies. The sting, carried out by media organisation mediasarkar.com, was released on Thursday and showed AAP leaders, including Shazia Ilmi, candidate from south Delhi's RK Puram, accepting donations without proper verification days before the December 4 Delhi Assembly polls.

Geneva, Nov 24 (ANI): Iran and six world powers reached a breakthrough deal early on Sunday to curb Tehran's nuclear programme in exchange for limited sanctions relief, in what could be the first sign of an emerging rapprochement between the Islamic state and the West. Warsaw, Nov 24 (ANI): The two-week UN climate negotiations, which aimed to pave the way for a new global climate pact due to be agreed in 2015, came to an end more than 20 hours into extra time on Saturday. China, the world's biggest emitter of carbon dioxide, and India (No. 4) had clashed with the US (No. 2) and other countries earlier Saturday over the wording of draft decisions with guidelines on when countries should present commitments for a new pact to fight climate change. Delegates ultimately adopted an altered text agreed to during added emergency negotiations in the Warsaw National Stadium to avert a breakdown of the UN climate talks.

Top police brass meets in Gaya, discuss strategies to combat Maoists

Princess of Belgium visits India to strengthen bilateral relation

Police arrest suspended TMC leader Kunal Ghosh in Sharda Chit Fund scam

Kolkata, Nov 24 (ANI): Police have arrested suspended TMC lawmaker Kunal Ghosh in West Bengal for his alleged role and conspiracy in the state's multi-billion Sharda chit fund scam. The deputy commissioner added that Ghosh has been charged with IPC sections of 420 cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property, 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 120B conspiracy. Meanwhile, a leader of India's regional Trinamool Congress party, Derek O' Brien said that law should take its course.
