Tarun Tejpal gets interim relief till 2:30 PM

Panaji, Nov 29 (ANI): Tehelka sexual assault case accused Tarun Tajpal’s lawyer confirmed that Goa sessions court gave interim relief to Tejpal till 2:30 PM and that they are hopeful to get bail soon. She said that now that the court has given him interim protection, police should stop hounding Tejpal. The lawyer also said that Tejpal has already sent a letter to Goa police that he wants to cooperate with them and that he is not running from anything.

Police faulted in giving so much time for Tejpal to abscond: YP Singh

Mumbai, Nov 29 (ANI): As Goa police is on a search for the Tehelka sexual assault case accused Tarun Tejpal who is allegedly absconding from his Delhi residence, Former IPS Officer YP Singh said that the police is totally faulted in giving so much of time for Tejpal to abscond. He said that police could have arrested the accused without any delay or warrant and later issued a non-bailable warrant. Singh said that police have created enough loop holes in the case.

Tarun Tejpal should cooperate with proceeding: Shamina Shafiq on sexual assault case

New Delhi, Nov 29 (ANI): As the Tehelka founder Tarun Tejpal, is being treated as an absconder by the Goa Police, which sent a team to Delhi on Friday to arrest the 50-year-old, NCW member Shamina Shafiq said that instead of hiding, he should cooperate with the proceeding. She also added that by not doing so he is getting into more trouble.

Kashmir police warns infiltration attempts along border

Poonch, Nov 29 (ANI): Deputy Inspector General of Police Danish Rana said in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir said that militants are preparing to infiltrate along the disputed border of the state. While attending an event on Thursday to commemorate the death of a soldier on the border, Rana said that the militants may have shifted their attention to Kashmir and the cases of infiltration might increase following the retreat of US forces from Afghanistan. Rana added that they were maintaining tight security at the border and no perpetrators would be able to cross the border.

Congress demands CBI probe into Saradha chitfund scam

Kolkata, Nov 29 (ANI): Congress leaders reached Governor's official house in Kolkata to demand a CBI probe into Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's alleged involvement in the infamous multi million Saradha chitfund scam. Congress leader MD Shorab demanded the CBI to probe into the matter to find the truth. Earlier, the state government suspended TMC leader Kunal Ghosh for his alleged involved in the scam and also formed a special committee to carry out an instant probe into the dubious activities of investment company Saradha Group that duped thousands of depositors.

Police arrest 3 hardcore Maoists in Jharkhand

Palamu, Nov 29 (ANI): Acting on a tip off, police arrested three hardcore Maoists in Palamu district of Jharkhand while they were meeting their families. The three Maoists were wanted in a number of heinous crime cases, including a blast at a mobile tower, attack on former Jharkhand minister's house, killings of policemen and people. The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mukesh Kumar Mahato on Thursday said that the arrests were an achievement for the security forces. Mahato also said that the mobile phones of the arrested men have been seized and they were being checked for further information.

Goa Police on search for Tarun Tejpal

New Delhi, Nov 29 (ANI): Tehelka sexual assault case accused Tarun Tejpal is nowhere to be found as Goa police reached his residence in Delhi on Friday. According to police sources, Tejpal's family is not cooperating with the Goa police and Tejpal's wife Geetan Batra has refused to reveal the whereabouts of her husband. A Seven member committee, comprising of investigating officers in the case left Tejpal's residence after 90 minutes of their arrival and are most probably looking at other possible locations where he could be found. The Goa Police late Thursday obtained a non-bailable warrant from a court against the accused journalist. Tejpal failed to meet his 3:00 PM deadline for Thursday to appear before them and thereafter appealed for time extension for the same, which was rejected by the investigating officers.

Abu Salem gets seven-year imprisonment in fake passport case

Hyderabad, Nov 28 (ANI): A special CBI court in Hyderabad has sentenced seven year rigorous imprisonment to underworld don, Abu Salem in fake passport case on Thursday. The gangster was found guilty under various sections of IPC for obtaining a passport under a fictitious name and address from Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. While speaking to mediapersons after the judgement, public prosecutor, TV Ramana revealed that Salem was charged under criminal conspiracy, cheating by personation and forgery for purpose of cheating.

Pradeep Sharma files criminal defamation case against Madhu Kishwar

Ahmedabad, Nov 28 (ANI): Suspended Gujarat IAS officer Pradeep Sharma filed criminal defamation case against writer Madhu Kishwar over her controversial tweet, 'falsely' linking Sharma with the woman allegedly stalked by Gujarat government. Sharma had earlier dashed off a defamation notice which was supposed to be responded to within 48 hours. The court has scheduled the hearing for the same on 5th of December, as confirmed by the lawyer.

New Delhi, Nov 28 (ANI): The National Commission for Women has informed that former Tehelka managing editor Shoma Chaudhury has tendered an apology to the National Commission for Women (NCW) for alleged "lapses" in handling the sexual assault case against the magazine's former editor Tarun Tejpal. Chaudhury on Thursday met member in-charge of Goa Shamina Shafiq of the National Commission for Women (NCW) at its headquarters in New Delhi to explain in person her handling of the case.
