Hundreds run in Kolkata marathon to spread cancer awareness

Kolkata, Jan 05 (ANI): The young and the old gathered in hundreds in Kolkata on Sunday to take part in a marathon to create awareness about the cancer disease and support the underprivileged cancer patients. From celebrities to corporate to school children, participants beat the chill as they ran for the noble cause for over 42 kilometres along the city streets. Former captain of Indian cricket team, Sourav Ganguly, was also present at the event to encourage the participants.

ISRO launches GSLV-D5 satellite successfully

Sriharikota, Jan 5 (ANI): The ISRO on Sunday successfully launched the Geo-synchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle or GSLV-D5 from the space port at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. The advanced GSAT-14 communications satellite that GSLV-D5 is carrying has also been separated from the rocket. If launched into orbit successfully, the Rs. 350-crore mission will mark India's entry into the multi-billion dollar commercial launcher market on a fully indigenous large rocket.

Jairam Ramesh takes jibe at Modi, says his ideology is still questionable

Laws made need to be implemented: Mamta Sharma on Bangalore minor rape case

New Delhi, Jan 5 (ANI): Commenting on yet another heinous crime of a minor girl rape case in Bangalore, NCW Chairman Mamta Sharma said that there are laws made but are useless until they are implemented. Sharma said that the government needs to be more alert in such cases. She also said that this was disappointing that the case was lodged after the victim was admitted to hospital. The NCW chairman also said that the fund for women safety should be used for the purpose too.

AAP will begin nationwide membership drive from 10 Jan

Further, the results suggest the possible therapeutic value of targeting this pathway with compounds that could improve both lung and brain functions in smokers," Irfan Rahman, from the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, N.Y, said.
