Patna/ New Delhi, Feb 08 (ANI): After Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi asked people to respect the tea vendors but not those who cheat people, BJP condemned the statement and said that Gandhi speaks in ignorance. Gandhi also accused RSS of killing Gandhian ideology, to which BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi said that it is Congress who killed the Gandhian ideology. Meanwhile, party leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that BJP is proud that it has chosen somebody like a tea-vendor as its PM nominee.

14 year old Manipuri girl raped in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 8 (ANI): A 14-year-old Manipuri girl was raped in Munirka on Friday night, allegedly by her landlord's son. The girl had gone to the market to buy some household item when the accused attacked her and took the girl to a vacant room in the locality. The minor has suffered injuries and was taken to Safdarjung Hospital where she underwent a medical examination which confirmed rape. The accused has been arrested after an FIR was registered under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Vasant Vihar Police Station. Meanwhile, people on Saturday protested outside Vasant Vihar Police station in Delhi after the rape demanding justice for the girl and better security for women.

Maoists hamper development work in Latehar

Latehar, Feb 08 (ANI): Recently, the Maoists attacked a construction site in Bariatu area of Jharkhand’s Latehar district. The armed guerillas not only opened fire and threatened the workers but also burnt down their equipment used for road construction. Road construction work has come to a halt as the incident has created a fear psychosis among the workers. The case has been reported at the Bariatu police station and police is investigating the matter. It has claimed to have identified a few Maoists. Maoists are stalling development work in remote areas of Jharkhand.

New Delhi, Feb 08 (ANI): The 2014 Defence Expo in New Delhi witnessed launch of an unmanned military vehicle, showing an example of extraordinary technology. A kit has been attached atop the vehicle that enables it to perform unmanned and autonomous operations even in remote areas of the country. Head of business development in Defence, Anil Kumar Yadav threw light on the various other functions of the unmanned vehicle. The vehicle can conduct various missions like anti naxalite operations, border patrolling, critical infrastructure patrolling like that of nuclear defense areas. Bird detection & monitoring radar system is another technology that can be deployed to ensure the safety of aircrafts in air.

Development of Gujarat due to Congress not Narendra Modi: Manish Tewari

New Delhi, Feb 8 (ANI): Reacting to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's speech in Imphal, Information and Broadcasting Minister and Congress leader Manish Tewari on Saturday said that the development of Gujarat was due to the Congress, and not because of Modi as he liked to claim. Addressing a rally in Imphal, Modi had said that the Congress government had terribly failed in developing the north east region. He also said that the state in which Manipur is now was bleak and cited the example of Gujarat to draw a comparison. He further said that Manipur has had the worst governments of the Congress.

ICC revamp plan approved in Singapore, Srinivasan to become chairman

New Delhi, Feb 08 (ANI): BCCI President N Srinivasan has been selected as the next ICC chairman in the International Cricket Council's (ICC) board meeting held on Saturday. Srinivasan would be the third Indian to head the ICC. He will join his post from July 2014, for two years. The ICC's radical revamp plan proposed by the "Big Three" of international Cricket-India, Australia and England was also approved by eight members voting in favour of it, and two abstaining from the voting process.
