Heavy snow brings Kashmir to standstill

Poonch, Feb 08 (ANI): Kashmir woke up to fresh swathe of white flakes jamming daily life, commuters faced long and treacherous rides as snow-filled roads caused delays in public transit. Road authorities have started mechanical snow-clearing service, but incessant snowfall makes the roads slippery and unfavourable for travel. This is the third time within this week that snowfall has brought normal life to a stand still, leading to prolonged power cuts and even blocking of the arterial highway. Frequent blocking of the National-Highway, which is the arterial road link that connects Kashmir with rest of the country, due to non-stop snowfall makes life tough as essential supplies do not reach the valley on time. The Bill will be introduced in Parliament on February 11 or 12. The key demands of Seemandhra leaders that Hyderabad be made a Union Territory and Rayala Telangana be created were rejected, putting a question mark on the fate of the Bill in Parliament.
