Politicians slam AAP's stand on Somnath Bharti's midnight raid on Ugandans

New Delhi, Jan 23 (ANI): Politicians from rival parties on Thursday slammed the Aam Aadmi Party over its silence on the midnight raid led by Delhi Law Minister, Somnath Bharti, in which four Ugandan women were allegedly molested. The four Ugandan women, in a complaint to Delhi police, alleged that they were molested by a group of supporters of Bharti.

Shankaracharya slaps TV journalist over question on Narendra Modi, draws controversy

Jabalpur, Jan 23 (ANI): Senior priest of the Dwarka Shradha Peeth Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati is caught in a controversy after he slapped a TV journalist. Swami lost his cool and slapped the journalist when he was asked a question on BJP's PM candidate Narendra Modi. Swaroopanand had been vocally critical of the BJP's decision to project a PM candidate. Later, Swaroopanand admitted that he slapped the journalist and said that the question was to uselessly keep the politicians in news.

Women politicos ask West Bengal CM to take stern action in Birbhum gang-rape case

New Delhi, Jan 23 (ANI): Women politicos on Thursday condemned the alleged gang-rape of a tribal woman in West Bengal's Birbhum district, and appealed to the state chief minister to take stern action against the culprits. President of Women Congress Shobha Oza said that if such brutal acts are not restricted, women will never feel safe in this country. Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) leader Najma Heptulla, echoing similar sentiments, said that India's image is deteriorating due to incidents like these that happen not only with Indian women but also with foreign nationals. Birbhum gang-rape: Annie Raja demands action against perpetrators

New Delhi, Jan 23 (ANI): A 20 year old tribal woman was allegedly gang-raped in West Bengal's Birbhum district, on Monday night on the order of the village court presided by village head, who decided to punish the girl for having an affair with a boy from a different community. Speaking on the same, Women rights activist Annie Raja said that it is a saddening incident which must be condemned. The parents of the victim filed a complaint with the Lavpur police station, and so far five people have been arrested.
