Army busts militant hideout in Kashmir

Doda, April 6 (ANI): On a tip of intelligence, Army and police in a joint operation busted a militant hideout in Kashmir ahead of general elections, informed a senior official. A huge cache of arms and explosives including six weapons and eight kg of RDX, communication equipments, logistic support items, literature related to terrorists and Pakistan currency notes were recovered from the well stocked hideout. BJP to use 3D projection for Narendra Modi rallies

New Delhi, April 6 (ANI): BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will address more than 1,000 'Bharat Vijay' rallies in different states using the advance 3D hologram technology, to garner votes in parliament polls. Senior BJP leader, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, said party's PM candidate Narendra Modi would hold more than 1,000 rallies to reach out to people in the evening. Meanwhile, Information and Broadcasting Minister, Manish Tewari, said these polls posed a challenge to basic principles of the country and urged people to vote judiciously. The general elections will be held in nine stages from April 07 till May 12. Results of the mammoth exercise are due on May 16.

Kashmir prepares to jump into mammoth 2014 election frenzy

Srinagar, April 6 (ANI): With just few days left for the mammoth parliamentary polls of the World's largest democracy, Kashmir prepares to jump into 2014 election frenzy. Returning officer from Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir Ajeet Kumar Sahu said that the arrangements for elections were in place. Sahu added that the officials have also campaigned for a good voter turnout at polling booths that used to witness low voter turnout. Meanwhile, army officials have said that they are prepared for any attempts of infiltration as far as the security is concerned. Voting will be held on 10 April for Jammu, Poonch parliamentary constituency and 1848000 voters are expected to vote on the polling day.

Police arrest five red rebels in Maoist hotbed

Gumla, April 6 (ANI): Police in Jharkhand province have arrested five Maoists in red corridor of Gumla district, ahead of upcoming general elections. Police also informed that they arrested the rebels after destroying a rebel camp located in the hills. Tuti also confirmed the recovery of arms and ammunitions, Maoist documents and things stolen by red rebels during various incidents of robbery. Tuti said that it is a major achievement of Jharkhand police ahead of the general elections and would help to ensure peaceful polls in the province.

Security forces on high alert to ensure peaceful elections in the Northeast

Assam/ Tripura/ Mamipur, April 05 (ANI): With barely a fortnight remaining for voting to begin for the general elections, elaborate security measures have been put in place all over the country. In the Northeast, the security forces are on high alert to prevent any attempt by insurgent outfits to disrupt the democratic process. The region has a past experience of poll boycotts by underground outfits, and incidents of threats and extortions against candidates. Manipur's first milk processing plant comes as a boon to many

Manipur, April 05 (ANI): Manipur's Youth Volunteers' Union has set up the state's first milk processing plant at Thoubal Wangmataba with an aim to provide employment to the local unemployed youth. The plant, being run by the Youth Volunteer Union Milk Producer Company Ltd, will be the first to produce pasteurized and toned milk in the state. The construction of the processing plant, which includes a 5000 liter cold storage, was started in January last year and the plant has been producing pasteurized milk since December. The Youth Development Union has been undertaking developmental projects in the state with an aim to improve the lives of the underprivileged people by providing them employment opportunities.
