LS Polls 2014: EC on Assam and Tripura voter turnout

New Delhi, April 07 (ANI): The Election Commission on Monday informed that the voter turnout in Assam till 5 pm is approximately 72.5 % which is expected to cross 75% as people are still standing in queues to cast their vote. The EC also informed that the poll percentage is about 84% and is expected to go up by 1-2%.

EC issues notice to Amit Shah for hate speeches in UP

Lucknow, April 07 (ANI): The Election Commission on Monday issued notice to BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's close aide Amit Shah for his hate speeches in the riot-affected areas in Uttar Pradesh. It asked the BJP leader to explain within three days as to why action should not be initiated against him for violating the model code through his speeches made while campaigning in Shamli, Bijnore and Muzaffarnagar districts in the state. Shah, who is in charge of the BJP's campaign in Uttar Pradesh, had allegedly said in a speech that the election is a chance to seek "revenge for the insult" inflicted during the riots in Muzaffarnagar in September last, in which nearly 60 were killed and thousands displaced.

Maoist attack injures one in Chhattisgarh

Sukma, April 4 (ANI): An official from India's paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was severely injured on Monday in an attack by Maoists in insurgency-hit Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. The injured, Sub-Inspector Mahendra Singh, was then admitted to a hospital in Jagdalpur city in Chhattisgarh. The rebels opened indiscriminate fire at security officials but fled the spot when security forces retaliated. Maoists are rebels who try to sink deep roots and form links after decades of neglect. The Maoists, also known as Naxals, have killed police and politicians, and targeted government buildings and railway tracks in an insurgency that has killed thousands since the 1960s.

Bangladesh fans expect cricket team to atleast fight,if not win regularly-Senior Journalist

New Delhi, April 07 (ANI): Bangladesh has a not very impressive cricket history in its store with a relatively poor performance in ICC T20 World Cup 2014 too, where the team failed to reach even in the semi finals.
