Will request EC to reconsider its decision: Giriraj Singh on ban from campaigning

Patna, April 23 (ANI): Taking serious note of BJP leader Giriraj Singh's remark the Election Commission has barred him from holding public meetings in Bihar and Jharkhand. He had said that critics of prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will be sent to Pakistan. The Election Commission has also asked him to submit his explanation to it by 24 April. Reacting over this the BJP candidate from Nawada said that he was misquoted and allegations against him are false. He added that he will request EC to consider its decision.

Shazia Ilmi sparks controversy with 'Muslims should be communal' remark

New Delhi/ Lucknow, April 23 (ANI): Politicos and Muslim clerics on Wednesday slammed AAP leader Shazia Ilmi after a video showing her sitting amongst a group of Muslims and saying that "Muslims would have to be communal" surfaced. On its twitter account, Ilmi's party clarified, "AAP does not believe in this kind of politics nor does it endorse it."

Kejriwal to file nomination for LS polls from Varanasi today

Varanasi, April 23 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal will be filling his nomination for the ongoing Lok Sabha polls from Varanasi constituency on Wednesday. The AAP chief has challenged BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, who is also contesting from Vadodara in Gujarat apart from Varanasi. The former Delhi Chief Minister will also take on Congress candidate Ajay Rai.Modi will file his nomination from Varanasi on Thursday. He has already filed his nomination from Vadodara.

2014 LS Polls: Security forces gear up for sixth phase of polling

Chhattisgarh/ Uttar Pradesh/ Maharashtra, April 23 (ANI): Security forces across various states in India held marches as a safety measure for the sixth phase of polling in the ongoing general election. The sixth phase of election will be held on April 24 where voters of 117 constituencies in nation’s 11 states and one Union Territory would go to polls. Police Commissioner of Mumbai, Rakesh Maria, said the police are totally prepared to hold free and fair elections in the western city. Meanwhile, Chief Electoral Officer of Chhattisgarh, Sunil Kujur said 10.18 million people will vote for seven parliamentary constituencies in the province on April 24.

Spiderman scales Mumbai buildings to campaign for general election

Mumbai, April 23 (ANI): An independent candidate, also known as Indian Spider-man, hangs from balconies, climbs buildings to campaign for parliamentary polls in India's showbiz capital Mumbai, which is due to vote in an election this week. Gaurav Sharma, who is a martial arts trainer and a fitness consultant, drew inspiration from comic book superhero, Peter Parker, and was seen jumping from one window to another asking voters to solicit their support. Dressed in spider-man's costume, Sharma, who is also contesting election convinces people in his constituency that he would use his powers to change their lives once he becomes their representative. But Sharma says his aim is also to encourage people to achieve their dreams by climbing ladders and passing all barriers.

Narendra Modi's look-alike campaigns in Varanasi

Varanasi, April 23 (ANI): Look-alike of BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Abhinandan Pathak, left no stone unturned as he was campaigning for Modi with full force. Pathak along with BJP workers conducted rituals at a temple and prayed for smooth journey of Modi to become the prime minister. The Modi look alike said that he has been touring different states in eastern, western and northern parts of India since over two months now. Also, prayers were held for Modi who will file nomination papers to contest from Varanasi on April 24. Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has benefited from a wave of public anger over corruption scandals and a slowing economy under the ruling Congress, which may be facing one of its weakest-ever showings at the polls.

Indo-Pak relations flourish with faster clearance of transit permits
