Kejriwal slams Modi, Rahul for 'helicopter politics' during his roadshow

Varanasi, April 23 (ANI): On his way to file his nomination papers for the Lok Sabha polls from Varanasi, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday stepped up his attack on BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. During his roadshow, Kejriwal condemned their helicopter politics and criticized the condition of Varanasi's infrastructure and spoke about citizens' problems. He also talked about Gandhi's constituency saying all the people of Amethi see the Congress vice-president in his helicopter only and when people go to him in Delhi they are beaten up and driven away.

EC holds vintage car rally in Ludhiana to raise voter awareness

Ludhiana, April 23 (ANI): The Election Commission organized a vintage car rally on Wednesday as part of its election awareness drive in Ludhiana city of Punjab to encourage voters to cast their ballot during the ongoing mammoth general elections. The participants held flags and shouted slogans to spread awareness among the voters to exercise their franchise. Meanwhile, an onlooker, Ramneet Kaur, called it a novel idea to motivate people to turn out in huge numbers on voting day. The elections to choose members to the 543-seat Lok Sabha are spread over five weeks in nine separate phases and will end on May 12. Results would be announced on May 16.

Raging fire engulfs two factories in Gujarat and Maharashtra

Gujarat/ Maharashtra, April 23 (ANI): Raging fire engulfed the warehouse of a chemical factory and a cloth industrial unit in Vapi city of Gujarat as firefighters struggled to douse the inferno. Goods worth millions were reduced to ashes. Around five fire tenders immediately reached the spot to douse the blaze. Police Sub-Inspector of Vapi, Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), RF Bariya, said that the fire fighters battled to douse the fire. Meanwhile, four factories and a godown were also gutted by fire in Bhiwandi city in Thane, Maharashtra.

Jaitley agrees with Priyanka, says personal attacks should be avoided

Amritsar, April 23 (ANI): Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley on Wednesday said that attacks on the basis of corruption and honesty are not personal, but added that in politics, personal attacks should be avoided. Jaitley was responding to the statement of Congress President Sonia Gandhi's daughter Priyanka Gandhi, who said her husband Robert Vadra was being attacked by the BJP to divert the attention of people from development issues to "meaningless talk", and that the "truth" about her husband will prevail. He also appealed to the Congress leaders to consider Priyanka's statement about personal attacks before making any jibes on Narendra Modi.

2014 LS Polls: Security forces gear up for sixth phase of polling

Spiderman scales Mumbai buildings to campaign for general election

Mumbai, April 23 (ANI): An independent candidate, also known as Indian Spider-man, hangs from balconies, climbs buildings to campaign for parliamentary polls in India's showbiz capital Mumbai, which is due to vote in an election this week. Gaurav Sharma, who is a martial arts trainer and a fitness consultant, drew inspiration from comic book superhero, Peter Parker, and was seen jumping from one window to another asking voters to solicit their support. Dressed in spider-man's costume, Sharma, who is also contesting election convinces people in his constituency that he would use his powers to change their lives once he becomes their representative. Narendra Modi's look-alike campaigns in Varanasi

Varanasi, April 23 (ANI): Look-alike of BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Abhinandan Pathak, left no stone unturned as he was campaigning for Modi with full force. Pathak along with BJP workers conducted rituals at a temple and prayed for smooth journey of Modi to become the prime minister.
