New Delhi, Feb 18 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Tuesday commuted the death sentence of three men convicted of killing former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi to life in prison. The convicts, Santhan, Murugan and Perarivalan, had petitioned against their death sentence, arguing that there had been an exceptional delay in a decision on their mercy plea. A bench headed by Chief Justice P Sathasivam delivered the judgement on the mercy plea. The Centre had earlier opposed the plea by arguing that the convicts did not go through torture, agony and dehumanizing experience during pendency of the mercy pleas. Bedi said that every time one quotes somebody, he should have confidence in the same or else his credibility is lost as also in case of AAP earlier. Transparency International rejects AAP's claim on 'reduction in corruption' survey

New Delhi, Feb 18 (ANI): Global corruption watchdog Transparency International (TI) Executive Director Ashutosh Kumar Mishra on Tuesday rejected AAP's claim that corruption has come down in Delhi based on an 'unpublished report'. Former chief minister of national capital Arvind Kejriwal had claimed during a CII meet that he had come to know that Transparency International is set to release a report which says that corruption is down in the Delhi Jal Board. Mishra said that they have neither done any such survey, nor are they planning for the same. He also said that it is impractical as any such survey takes months. Ering said this after a kangaroo court (khap panchayat) in New Delhi took a decision on Sunday to force northeast people to vacate the Munirka locality in the national capital. When asked about what is being done by the provincial ministry to provide safety to the northeasterners in Delhi, Ering said a helpline has been started exclusively for them to register their complaints.
