Narendra Modi tries to woo voters in Himachal, says will fulfill broken dreams

Palampur, April 29 (ANI): BJP's PM Candidate Narendra Modi during a rally in Himachal Pradesh's Palampur on Tuesday tried to woo voters by highlighting his works and ensuring people's faith in him. Modi praised his government saying that after a destructing earthquake in Gujarat, he was able to maintain order within 3 years in the state. He also hit at Congress asking people to choose a service man rather than a ruler for the country. Modi further appealed people to vote for him and gave hope that he will fulfill their broken dreams.

Mixed reactions flow, soon after Chidambaram accepts mistakes of UPA 2

New Delhi, April 29 (ANI): Soon after Finance Minister P Chidambaram accepted that UPA made and termed 2010-11 to be most critical years, reactions from various political parties flowed in. BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi stated that it's too late for Congress to realize its mistakes. Rajya Sabha MP Mohd Adeeb said that it was already known still if Congress has realized mistakes then they should do something to improve it. Modi says "Ye dil maange more" at Mandi rally

Mandi, April 29 (ANI): BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Tuesday asked people of Himachal Pradesh to make his party win by 300 seats, repeating the famous catchphrase also used by Kargil Martyr Vikram Batra "Ye dil maange more." Vikram Batra gave his life for the country in the Kargil war using the same line, said Modi, while addressing a rally in Mandi.

NCW Issues Notice to Ramdev over his 'honeymoon' Remark

New Delhi, April 29 (ANI): NCW chairperson Mamta Sharma on Tuesday strongly condemned Yoga Guru Ramdev's 'honeymoon' remark. Ramdev had recently said that Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi goes to houses of Dalits "for picnics and honeymoon". Slamming Ramdev for the objectionable comments, she said that Ramdev should be arrested. She added that NCW has issued a notice against him.

Priyanka Gandhi slams Modi for 'shehzada' jibe

Amethi, April 29 (ANI): Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday once again took on BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi directly. She slammed Modi for calling Rahul Gandhi a 'shehzada' and urged him to refrain from childish acts. While addressing a gathering in Amethi, she also accused BJP candidate from Amethi Smriti Irani of not being in touch with ground reality. Politicos react as US court dismisses 1984 riots case against Congress

New Delhi, April 29 (ANI): Politicos on Tuesday reacted to a US court's dismissal of a lawsuit against Congress party relating to 1984 anti-Sikh riots, saying it did not sufficiently "touch and concern" the US court to exercise jurisdiction. JD (U) leader K C Tyagi said that 1984 riots have not received the justice yet. NCP leader Majid Memon said that 1984 riots is 30 year old and should not be used as a weapon during the elections.

Modi accuses Congress of cheating people

Palampur, April 29 (ANI): BJP's PM candidate Narendra Modi, while addressing a rally in Himachal Pradesh's Palampur on Tuesday, severely attacked the ruling Congress Party. Calling the Congress as a cheater party Modi stated that Congress cheats people through its manifesto, never fulfilling its promises. He further attacked the Nehru-Gandhi party saying that the soldiers of the country die for their motherland not for a family government. Modi also took up the issue of development through Tourism for which the Central Government has held back projects in Himachal.

EC holds candle light ceremony to encourage youth to vote

Amritsar, April 29 (ANI): The Election Commission of India organised a candle light ceremony in Amritsar to create awareness among the masses to exercise their right to vote during the world's largest general election. Many youngsters, majority of who were first-time voters, lit a candle each as a sort of pledge to cast their vote on April 30, when Punjab goes to polls in single phase voting. Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Electoral Officer, Ravi Bhagat, said the act of lighting a candle means that the youngsters are aware of their duty to cast their ballot. He said the candlelight marches are often held as mark of protest, but for perhaps the first time, this method has been used in a positive manner for a national cause.
