Mixed reactions flow over Modi's maiden visit to Bhutan

New Delhi, June 15 (ANI): Political leaders on Sunday reacted over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's maiden foreign visit to Bhutan. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said that Bhutan is a friendly nation which always supported India and thus Modi's decision to choose Bhutan was a wise one. Congress leader Rashid Alvi stated Modi should first concentrate on national issues and then move to foreign ones. RJD leader Manoj Jha stated that the PM should understand that he has moved beyond election campaign and should handle foreign issues maturely.

Italian fans rejoiced over victory over England by 2-1

Manaus, June 15 (ANI): Italian soccer fans were left elated in the Amazonian city of Manaus after their team beat England by 2-1 in their first Group D match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. England dominated the second half but could not find a way past back-up keeper Salvatore Sirigu, deputising for the injured Gianluigi Buffon. Italy fans leaving the stadium were delighted with the win. While Brazilian fans also seemed to be supporting the "Azzurri" or blues, like Aline Zacarni. Italy now joined top of the group with Costa Rica while England must beat Uruguay in their next game to retain realistic hopes of reaching the last 16.

India- Bhutan testimony of bilateral relations, Modi the 'man of action': Bhutan

Thimpu, June 15 (ANI): Bhutan Secretary of Ministry of Information and Communications, Kinley Dorji on Sunday said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bhutan is actually history. He said that India- Bhutan relation is testimony of bilateral relations and that Modi being a 'man of action' make things more real. Further, he said that Indian PM will meet almost everybody including king, prime minister and other top officials. Modi will be reaching the neighbouring country in some time soon today.

Police bust Maoist hideout in 'red corridor', kills one

Gadchiroli, June 15 (ANI): Acting on a tip off, the police in the 'red corridor' of Maharashtra busted a Maoist hideout in the jungles of Gadchiroli district, where after a fierce gunbattle between both sides one rebel was killed and number of explosives were recovered. The Superintendent of Police (Paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force-CRPF), Gadchiroli, M Raj Kumar said that one dead body of a suspected Maoist was recovered after they barged in while the others escaped. The identity of the recovered body has not been ascertained.

Nearly 150 kg of explosives recovered from abandoned car in Varanasi

Varanasi, June 15 (ANI): Police in Holy city of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh recovered 150 kilograms of ammonium nitrate from a car, while conducting routine frisking of vehicles. After recovering the explosive, police seized the car in which the explosive material was being transported. The two men carrying the explosive in the vehicle fled on seeing the police at a checkpost. No one has been arrested so far. A police probe is underway and further details are awaited.

Congress party's women wing stages protest against alarming rape cases in MP

Bhopal, June 15 (ANI): Congress Party's Women Wing took to streets protesting against the spate of growing rape cases in Madhya Pradesh. The protesters of Congress Women's wing led by its chief Shobha Oza demanded the resignation of state Home Minister Babulal Gaur and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan over growing rape cases in the state. Oza said the state government of Madhya Pradesh had shown disrespect for women by manhandling them during a peaceful protest. Amid growing public resentment over the gang-rape and hanging of two teenage girls in Uttar Pradesh, Gaur had described rape as a social crime and said "sometimes it's right, sometimes it's wrong".
