Defence experts say Al Qaeda video a ploy to attract local youth

New Delhi, Sep 04 (ANI): Defence experts said on Thursday that al Qaeda’s announcement of the formation of a wing of the militant group in India and its neighbourhood is a propaganda ploy aimed at attracting local youth to the organisation. Al Qaeda leader Ayman al Zawahri on Wednesday announced the formation of an Indian branch of his militant group he said would spread Islamic rule and “raise the flag of jihad” across the subcontinent. Internal Security Expert Ajay Sahni said such videos have been released in the past as well. Defence Expert Afzal Kareem dismissed it as a big threat. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 18.65 points down to stand at 8,095.95. UPL and JandKBANK were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 7.47% and 6.53% along with TATA GLOBAL and CESC with an increase of 5.77% and 5.62% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include JAIPRAKASH ASSOCIATES LTD. and JPINFRATEC with a decrease of 17.38% and 11.20% along with DLF and UNITECH with a decrease of 8.25% and 6.25% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 18.80 points at 17,688.88 while the banking sector is down 76.62 points at 18,353.75 and the reality sector is down 78.60 points at 1,747.43. Vijay Mallya says will pursue all legal remedies as UBI declares him 'willful defaulter'

Bangalore, Sep 04 (ANI): Business Tycoon Vijay Mallya on Thursday said that he will pursue all legal remedies available to him even as state-run United Bank of India's (UBI) declares him 'willful defaulter'. This could be a blow to the former liquor baron who has been fending off banks from recovering money they once lent to his now defunct Kingfisher Airlines. A two judge bench of the top court on Tuesday summarily waived off Kingfisher's objections that its chairman Mallya was declared a "willful defaulter" by the United Bank of India's Grievance Redressal Committee without his lawyer being heard during the proceedings. Mallya also slammed state's decision to ban beverage/ alcohol and said that there is no reason to exclude alcohol industry from Goods and Services Tax.
