Advanced technology to revive Japan's farming sector

Tokyo, Sep 09 (ANI): An agricultural plantation project in Hokkaido, founded by JFE Engineering Corporation, has two big greenhouses, covering a total area of 1.5 hectares. In addition to Mesclun greens and tomatoes, they grow more varieties of vegetables and fruits. The greenhouses, which are totally controlled by advanced cultivation control system, use the "Gas engine tri-generation system". It is a newly invented technology by JFE Engineering Corporation. The engine generates electricity, heat and CO2 from natural gas. Exhaust gas is filtered and pure CO2 is made and sent to houses though pipes and ejected by blast machine. The machine also blows warm air. Hot water is stocked in tanks and sent though pipes to heat up plant as needed. Sep 9, 2014

New Delhi, Sept 9 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 54.53 points down to stand at 27,265.32. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 20.95 points down to stand at 8,152.95. ASHOK LEYLAND LTD. and NHPC were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 5.44% and 5.14% along with IDEA and BHUSAN STEEL with an increase of 5.05% and 5.00% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include SOBHA and UNITECH with a decrease of 3.99% and 3.21% along with TORNT POWER and NATIONALUM with a decrease of 3.12% and 2.62% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 64.91 points at 17,776.72 while the banking sector is down 39.20 points at 18,511.09 and the reality sector is down 19.73 points at 1,759.28. Maharashtra Congress dispatch relief materials to flood hit JandK

Mumbai, Sep 09 (ANI): Congress party in Maharashtra, on Tuesday extended help to victims in flood-ravaged Jammu and Kashmir and dispatched relief materials. Indian-administered Kashmir is experiencing worst flooding in 60 years, killing at least 175 and inundating homes, military bases and hospitals in region's main city Srinagar as the Jhelum river overflowed its banks. Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed it as a national disaster and announced 1000 crore rupees in disaster relief payments, as well as compensation to victims and their relatives. On Tuesday, the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee dispatched rubber boats to help rescue operations in the valley. Accusations of atrocities have been rife since the end in May 2009 of conflict between ethnic Tamil separatist rebels and Sri Lankan government forces that killed more than 100,000 people. Tens of thousands are unaccounted for. On Tuesday, MDMK chief Vaiko led the protest in Chennai and said Rajapaksa had insulted the dignity of the United Nations. In May, the Sri Lankan unit of Transparency International said the defense ministry had ordered the cancellation of a course on investigative journalism for Tamil reporters. Police claim to arrest two foreign nationals staying illegally in Dharamshala

Dharamshala, Sep 09 (ANI): The local police claimed to have arrested two foreigners- one Russian and another Israeli- who have been staying illegally in the north Indian foothill town of Dharamsala. The police conducted a drive against foreigners staying illegally in Dharamshala and adjoining areas as a routine check and arrested another national, an Israeli, Gabrial Damian Kattan, without any valid documents at Dharamkot village near Mcleodganj town. Kattan came to India in 1999 and has been staying at different places secretly since then. He was also found in possession of two passports, one Argentinean passport expired in the year 2007 while the Israeli passport he possessed expired in 2012. The two accused have been booked under Foreigners Act, 1946 and sent to judicial custody till September 18 by a local court on Monday. Sep 9, 2014

People pay homage to ancestors in Gaya as 'Pitru Paksha' begins

Gaya, Sep 09 (ANI): Devout Hindus gathered at temples and river banks in Bihar to observe fortnight-long Hindu ritual of paying homage to departed souls and ancestors. 'Pitru Paksha' is marked annually, where family members offer food to ancestors. Traditionally, the eldest son or member of a family performs the ritual. Guided by priests, families performed religious rituals on the banks of River Ganges in Gaya district and other temples located in the city. The food is usually cooked in silver or copper vessels and placed on banana leaves. The offerings are also believed to cure diseases as well as infertility, apart from driving away evil souls. Chennai, Sep 09 (ANI): DMK on Tuesday condemned Chennai police’s circular which is to monitor crime reporting in press in order to lessen the number of crimes in the city. Party leader TKS Elangovan said that this only suggests that the police is not at all interested in controlling crime and that are trying to hide their inefficiencies. He also said that police is trying to hide the number of cases and that judiciary should intervene in the matter. IAF evacuates more than 2200 people from flood hit J&K, working to supply relief materials

New Delhi, Sep 09 (ANI): IAF Spokesperson Group Captain Gerard Galway on Tuesday said that the force have evacuated more than 2200 people from flood hit Jammu & Kashmir, including 800 who have been winched up. Galway said that a total of 50 aircraft and 30 helicopters are providing relief materials in the affected region and is working for the rescue of the stranded people.
