New Delhi, Sep 22 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Monday said that Congress has done its exercise of finalizing the candidates and he will be meeting Congress President Sonia Gandhi and General Secretary in-charge to finalize the seats which are left. He further said that the two parties share a friendly relation. The NCP on Monday held a Core Committee Meet to discuss the seat sharing with Congress for the upcoming Maharashtra elections.

Rajnath Singh visits BSF headquarters, says forces strongly dealing with militant issue

New Delhi, Sep 22 (ANI): Home Affairs Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday visited the BSF headquarters in Delhi and said that the BSF, Paramilitary Force & Indian Army are strongly dealing with the militants issue facing the nation today. Singh also held a meeting with the BSF officials and received guard of honour. He assured finding a solution to the ongoing problems of infiltrations and militants attack. Politicos react even as ITBP submits reports on Chinese Incursion

New Delhi, Sep 22 (ANI): Politicos on Monday reacted over the Chinese incursions taking place in the Line of Actual Control area in Ladakh. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said that the matter is escalating and requires a great deal of sagacity to end it. Congress leader Rashid Alvi and JD (U) leader Sharad Yadav said that the foreign policy of the NDA government is defective. CPI leader D Raja said that unless the border disputes between China and India are not resolved, there will always be a question mark on the mutual co-operation between the two countries. Meanwhile, ITBP Director General Subhas Goswami said that the status report on the Chinese incursions has been submitted to the concerned authority.

Dalai Lama meets former PM Manmohan Singh

New Delhi, Sep 22 (ANI): Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, met former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at his residence in New Delhi on Monday (September 22). The Dalai Lama held talks with Singh after being given a warm welcome by the former PM and his wife Gursharan Kaur. Last week, during the official visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to India, the spiritual leader had called for talks to resolve the border dispute as an unsettled border with China encompassing large parts of the Tibetan plateau is a problem for India. He also called Xi more "open-minded" and "realistic" than his predecessor Hu Jintao.

SC asks SPP to assist in Ranjit Sinha case with regard to CPIL's refusal to name whistleblower

New Delhi, Sep 22 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday asked Anand Grover, special public prosecutor in the 2G spectrum allocation case, to assist it after Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL) refused naming the whistleblower who had furnished the guest book at the residence of CBI Chief Ranjit Sinha. Earlier, Prashant Bhushan had urged the SC to withdraw order disclosing whistleblower's name in the case. Sinha's lawyer said that there was no detailed hearing on Monday and that the court deferred the hearing for October 10th.

SC issues notice to central government over farmers suicide issue

New Delhi, Sep 22 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday issue notice to central government over the issue of increase in number of farmers suicide in the country. The lawyer in the case said that a writ petition was filed by an organization in Punjab over the same and that this is creating an agregarian fall in India. The petition also said that there was no actions taken by the government over the same and that there was no compliance also. The lawyer in the case also said that if no compliance was taken soon, there can be a food crisis in India.

Lalit Kala Akademi/spirit of Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 22 (ANI): Director General Indian Council for Cultural Relations Satish C. Mehta inaugurated the exhibition and calligraphy workshop during the 'Spirit of Delhi' event on Wednesday. The exhibition consists of paintings from the Lalit Kala Akademi's collection, photographs by the renowned photographer Padmashree Raghu Rai, poetry paintings by Abhay K and Tarshito, rare photographs from archives of Ambedkar University, Archaeological Survey of India, Delhi Archives, Delhi Institute of Heritage Research and Management, National Museum and Roli books. Artist Abhay Kumar's poetry combined with Italian artist's paintings creates an impressive art work. The poetry and paintings describe the seven cities of Delhi, their past living and the present through the monuments. The monuments try to speak about their journey, about their life and about history through these poetry paintings.

ISRO's Mars Mission faces crucial test today

New Delhi, Sep 22 (ANI): ISRO's Mars Obiter Mission will face a crucial test on Monday when the main liquid engine of the spacecraft which has been dormant for 10 months will be fired at around 2:30 pm for a very short duration of four seconds. Scientist CB Devgan explaining about this test said that if the engine works today, then probably it will work on 24th when it is fired for a longer duration into an orbit around mars. He added that if they are successful in their maiden attempt, then India will be the first country to do so.

Politicos react as CBI questions Chidambaram's wife in Saradha scam case

New Delhi, Sept 22 (ANI): Politicos from rival parties of Congress stated on Monday that law should take its own course as former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram's wife, Nalini Chidamabaram, was examined over the weekend by the CBI in connection with the alleged multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam. According to sources, Saradha Chairman Sudipta Sen, at present in jail, had mentioned about hiring Nalini Chidambaram as a lawyer at the request of Manoranjana Sinh, the estranged wife of Congress leader Mantang Sinh. Sen has claimed that he had paid Rs.1 crore to Chidambaram as her legal fee.

Reactions flow after India cancels media talks with China

New Delhi, Sep 22 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Monday after India amidst the Chinese incursions taking place in Ladakh decided to withdraw the clearances of Chinese editors who were supposed to arrive this week in India for a media exchange with Indian journalists. Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar's bat, tie and t-shirt auctioned for orphan children

Pune, Sep 22 (ANI): Indian cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar's bat, tie and t-shirt were auctioned for Rupees 15 million in bid to raise funds for orphan children in Pune. The money earned by the auction went to the NGO SOFOSH (Society of Friends of the Sassoon Hospitals) which runs an orphanage. Speaking at the event, Tendulkar said, everyone is gifted with a talent, which must be recognized and put in the right direction. The orphan children had made an audio-book on Sachin Tendulkar and it was presented to him. Moved by the gesture of the children, Tendulkar said the grit and determination of the kids to present him with an audio book was an unforgettable moment for him. Sachin Tendulkar became the first sportsperson to receive a, India's highest civilian honour.
