Vishakapatnam /Kolkata, Sept 29 (ANI): The Vasavi Kanyaka Parameshwari Temple in Vishakapatnam, on Monday adorned its idols in currency notes and gold ornaments during the ten-day Hindu festival of Durga Puja. The money donated will be returned to the owners, who consider it auspicious to donate currency so that their businesses remain fruitful and earn revenue during the year. Meanwhile, Kolkata is filled with pandals, housing beautiful idols of Goddess Durga, where devotees are immersed in the festivities. Organisers of the Ekdalia Evergreen pandal adorned their idols with pure gold ornaments as crowds thronged to worship them. It is believed that the Goddess Durga makes her annual visit to the world during Durga Puja and the festivities are meant to welcome her. Chennai, Sep 29 (ANI): AIADMK leader and former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's loyalist O Panneerselvam was on Monday sworn in as the new chief minister of Tamil Nadu. Panneerselvam, succeeds J Jayalalithaa who has been sentenced to four years imprisonment in Disproportionate Assets Case. Panneerselvam's oath taking was administered by Governor K Rosaiah after which his cabinet colleagues were sworn in. Panneerselvam and his cabinet ministers, including Natham R Vishwanathan and R Vaithilingam, were in tears during the oath taking ceremony. Panneerselvam took the oath along with 31 MLAs. The Auto sector is down 78.47 points at 17,757.23 while the banking sector is down 161.91 points at 17,697.97 and the reality sector is down 4.03 points at 1,624.46.
