Cloudburst in Uttarakhand wreaks havoc

Uttarkashi, Aug 09 (ANI): Heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand cutting-off villages, washing away roads and bridges at several places. Six people were rescued by the rescue team which was sent immediately to the site. One of the members of the rescue team, Ram Singh, said that the people were rescued by the method of river crossing and that the area was still under the threat of cloud burst. Five bridges have been damaged and many farms have been destroyed due to the cloudburst.

Defence expert terms Obamas decision to launch air strikes on Iraq as toughest move

New Delhi, Aug 09 (ANI): Defence Expert, Praful Bakshi said that decision taken by US President Barack Obama to launch strike at this juncture is a very difficult decision to contain the onslaught of Islamist militants in northern Iraq. The United States has also begun dropping relief supplies to the refugees. Meanwhile, Bureau Chief of Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) Dr Waiel Awwad, welcomed the move by saying that they are beasts and they should be eliminated from this part of the world.

BJP National Council meet to facilitate PM Modi & partys big win

New Delhi, Aug 09 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) first National Council meet after forming the government at the Centre is scheduled to start at 10.30 am on Saturday in the capital. The meet is being held to discuss party organization issues. BJP leaders Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Satish Upadhyaya welcomed the same and showed full enthusiasm towards the function. Naqvi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah will address the meet. The session, to be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, will start with Amit Shah's ratification as new party chief and conclude with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address.
