Police baton charge AIADMK workers raising slogans in support of Jayalalithaa

Bangalore/ Chennai, Sep 27 (ANI): Workers of Tamil Nadu's ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party were baton charged and later detained by Bangalore Police on Saturday for raising slogans in support of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. Jayalalithaa is currently in the city to hear the verdict in an almost two-decades-old disproportionate assets case against her. The protest started from Tamil Nadu's Hosur City, where the police checked a bus for AIADMK supporters on their way to Bangalore. The supporters had also gathered near the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border. The AIADMK workers also raised slogans in support of Jayalalithaa outside her residence in Chennai. The AIADMK chief is accused of obtaining assets worth almost Rs. 66 crores through dishonest means during her first tenure as chief minister from 1991 to 1996. Sep 27, 2014

This is considered an auspicious old tradition, with the lit earthen pot symbolising a fertile womb. Civil societies extend relief materials to flood affected J and K

Rajouri, Sep 27 (ANI): A New Delhi based non-profit charitable trust, Thakurdwara, collected and sent the much needed relief material to Rajouri district of flood- affected Jammu. Three trucks carrying relief material worth rupees 50 lakh reached Rajouri. Relief material included shelter kits, bed sheets, towels, milk powder and tarpaulin sheets. Both the Indian and Pakistani sides of the disputed Himalayan region have seen extensive flooding this month, with Srinagar particularly hard hit. Hundreds of people have been killed and tens of thousands are homeless. District Development Commissioner, Jatinder Kumar Singh said that according to the data collected so far, 9,000 homes have been damaged in the floods, out of which 3,000 have been totally ruined and such contributions are a big help for the administration. New Delhi, Sep 27 (ANI): In a major blow to former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala, who has been convicted in JBT recruitment scam case, the Delhi High Court has asked him to surrender on or before October 17. The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief is currently out of prison on bail on health grounds. The INLD leader recently addressed a political rally in Haryana's Jind town where he slammed the Congress government for sending him to jail by implicating him in JBT scam. Chautala even vowed to take oath in jail if his party emerged winner in the assembly polls.
