Delhi Police detain protesting UPSC aspirants

New Delhi, Aug 08 (ANI): Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) aspirants staged another protest on Friday in Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar, forcing Delhi Police to detain some of them. Yesterday, the Rajya Sabha had also witnessed uproar over the issue of the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) of the UPSC examinations. UPSC aspirants have been protesting vociferously against the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) examination, which was introduced in 2011, demanding that it be made easy for rural students. Earlier, in a bid to resolve the CSAT row, the government took a decision that the marks of English section will not be included for merit. This decision, however, did not appease the protesting students completely as they want the CSAT to be scrapped entirely. Aug 8, 2014

New Delhi, Aug 08 (ANI): United States President Barack Obama has sanctioned airstrikes in Northern Iraq against the Islamic State fighters to avoid a possible 'genocide'. Obama on Thursday announced that he had authorized the US military to launch air strikes against ISIS militants in Iraq if they threatened the Kurdish capital of Erbil or the thousands of Yazidi minority civilians trapped on Mount Sinjar, both in northern Iraq. Although, Obama said that the US, after withdrawing its forces from Iraq at the end of 2011, did not intend to get involved into a war again, but the recent developments came in the wake of Iraqi government’s request for help. Obama authorized airstrikes amid fears of a humanitarian disaster that has forced thousands of Iraqi minority to flee from their homes to Sinjar mountain where they are reportedly stranded.
