RBI keeps interest rates unchanged, says 2016 CPI target of 6% at risk

Mumbai, Sep 30 (ANI): Reserve Bank of India Governor Raghuram Rajan on Tuesday left key interest rates unchanged in his fourth bi-monthly credit policy review citing increased risks of inflation and difficult external situation on the geopolitical front. Rajan said that inflation target of 6% by January 2016 involves uncertainties and that RBI is more confident with the target of 8%. He also added that the value of rupee has also risen in the recent months.

Jayalalithaa to stay in jail for now, bail petition adjourned till Oct 6

Bangalore, Sept 30 (ANI): In a major setback for AIADMK chief, J Jayalalithaa, Karantaka High Court on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of her bail plea petition till Monday. Though the bail plea has been admitted by the court, the hearing on the petition will not take place before Monday. Following the deferring of the hearing till Monday, Jayalalithaa, who is lodged in VVIP cell number 23 at Parappana Agrahara central prison in Bangalore, will have to continue in jail for at least a week.
