Moradabad, July 06 (ANI): Villagers in Moradabad district on Sunday fled their homes fearing for their lives in wake of violent clashes. Tension is prevailing in Kanth village after BJP workers clashed with police and Samajwadi Party members over removal of a loudspeaker from a temple by the administration decision. The detention of BJP leaders, workers and supporters while on their way to attend a huge religious gathering, 'Mahapanchayat', in Moradabad to protest the decision, led to skirmish with police and the SP workers. A District Magistrate and police officials were injured in stone-pelting by protesters. Police resorted to rounds of firing to control the unruly mob. New Delhi, July 6 (ANI): A group of 200 Indian workers, who were stranded in war torn Iraq, arrived in New Delhi on Sunday. An Indian worker, Upendra Singh, said that the situation in Iraq has worsened as conflict is going between Shiite and Sunni. Another worker Mohammed Alam complained that the company they worked for did not provide them any help to return back to the country. Alam further added that India embassy was helpful and provided them ticket ensuring their safe exit. Earlier on Saturday, 46 freed nurses, who were abducted by suspected Islamist militants in Iraq, also arrived home in Kochi city of Kerala. New Delhi, July 06 (ANI): In a bid to discourage smoking among youths, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has written to heads of states and UTs to consider levying a uniform VAT of at least 50 per cent on all tobacco products. He has also urged to develop a tax policy to make tobacco products less affordable over time, according to an official statement. Vardan had earlier written to the Finance Ministry seeking to increase the taxes on cigarettes in June, wherin he had urged Arun Jaitley to increase the price of cigarette by Rs 3.5 per stick irrespective of its length.
