Commuters in the city of Ranchi in Jharkhand hoped that the rail fare does not rise further after last month’s increase when passenger fare and freight fares were hiked by 14.2 percent and 6.5 percent respectively. In the southern city of Coimbatore, daily commuters said it was time India joined the fast lane and added high speed trains to the network. Ministers discuss various measures for cleaning River Ganges, invite suggestions

New Delhi, July 07 (ANI): Indian ministers, lawmakers, scientists, religious leaders and NGO's participated in a day-long dialogue on River Ganges rejuvenation plan on Monday and invited measures from experts and public to aid in the efforts. Issues related to pollution of the Ganges were addressed and discussion findings were shared with the committee of secretaries that has been working on a plan on the development of the river. Minister of Water Resources, Uma Bharti, said that the people involved in the Ganges cleaning project, irrespective of their departments, were all united on seeing the holy river in a pristine state once again. Mumbai, July 07 (ANI): Maharashtra Association of Gazetted Medical Officers (MAGMO) members, who were on a strike since July 1, called it off on Monday after the intervention of Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan. Chavan stated that most of the demands of MAGMO had been accepted earlier and the government is positive on some of the issues raised by them. MAGMO president Rajesh Gaikwad said that the organization is withdrawing the agitation on the assurance of the Chief Minister. The strike had paralyzed the healthcare situation in the state.
