Mumbai, Oct 15 (ANI): The polling booth became a visual treat for the voters on Wednesday as Bollywood Actor Abhishek Bachchan, his mother Jaya, the glamourous Rekha and also Bhagyashree turned up to cast their vote in Mumbai. Abhishek Bachchan appealed the people to vote in large numbers. Veteran actress Jaya Bacchan also accompanied her son, Abhishek, to cast her franchise. The people outside polling station also witnessed the glamourous Rekha as she showed her inked finger to the camera. Actress Bhagyashree also casted her vote and wished for a responsible government to come to power.Meanwhile, Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar also casted his ballot in Mumbai. Parties are fighting for 288 seats in Maharashtra, voting for which started early at 7:00 AM on Wednesday. Oct 15, 2014

Political bigwigs cast their votes in Maharashtra

Maharashtra, Oct 15 (ANI): Political bigwigs in Maharashtra cast their votes today as polls began for 288 assembly seats in the state. For the first time, all four major parties in the state-the Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena-are contesting assembly elections on their own instead of as alliance partners. Traditional Buffalo fight thrills scores of spectators in Himachal Pradesh

Shimla, Oct 15 (ANI): Scores of spectators thronged to witness the thrilling one-day buffalo fighting festival organised as part of local tradition and religious belief in Himachal Pradesh. The buffalo fight organised in Poabo village nearly 10 kilometers from Shimla saw villagers coming from more than 15 villages who brought their buffalos to participate in the match. The century-old buffalo fight is performed annually and involves the specially reared animals being brought to the ring, following which they are provoked for the duel. Organiser Rameshwar Thakur believed that it is a rich heritage which they want to preserve for future generations. The tradition is also to pacify the god Saturn and villagers believe that an opportunity to watch and participate in this fighting is a way to please Saturn which would bring happiness and prosperity. The batting maestro, who arrived on a one-day visit to the country, unveilied the logo at a hotel in Dhaka. After unveiling the logo, Tendulkar thanked the people of Bangladesh for the love and respect. The last time Tendulkar was in Dhaka, he scored his 100th international century during the Asia Cup in 2012. Upon arriving in Dhaka on Tuesday morning, he was taken by a helicopter to Rupganj, a sub-district of Narayanganj. Nalanda, Oct 15 (ANI): An Islamic religious school - madarsa - in Bihar has banned admission for girls as there is no separate sitting arrangement for them in the campus. Madarsa Azizia in Bihar Sharif, district headquarters of Nalanda district, has issued a diktat that girls will not be enrolled and those already enrolled will not be allowed into the premises. He further added the decision has been taken in the wake of social evils prevailing in the society. Madarsa Azizia is run by Soghra Wakf Estate Committee.
