Kamal Haasan takes up Modi's clean India challenge on 60th birthday

Chennai, Nov 7 (ANI): Veteran Actor Kamal Haasan, took up 'Clean India' mission on his 60th birthday on Friday, swept street and picked up garbage in Tamil Nadu. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the nationwide cleanliness mission on October 02 to raise awareness of cleanliness and better sanitation among its citizens under the banner of 'Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan', or Clean India Campaign. Haasan took up cleaning of Madhambakkam Lake in Chennai. Haasan participated in the movement along with the volunteers of a welfare club and volunteers of Environmentalist Foundation of India and his fans. Plane hits stray buffalo during take off in Surat

Surat / New Delhi, Nov 7 (ANI): A SpiceJet plane crashed into a stray buffalo during take-off from Surat although no passengers or crew were hurt. The airline was forced to ground the Boeing 737 which suffered "substantial damages", plane's operator said. SpiceJet said the buffalo, which was killed in the accident on Thursday evening, was "essentially invisible" against a dark background. Passengers on the Delhi-bound aircraft were transferred on to another plane, SpiceJet said. Air Vice-Marshal (Retired), Indian Air Force, Kapil Kak, said a thorough inquiry should be launched and infrastructure of all airports across the country should be reviewed. New Delhi, Nov 07 (ANI) : Mobile messaging service WhatsApp has come up with a new "double blue tick" feature that allows users to know when their texts have been delivered and read.The blue tick appears as soon as the person at the receiving end has read the message.One grey tick means a message has been successfully sent, two grey ticks show it has been delivered and a blue tick means the message has been read. The app now also shows the exact time a text was sent. Users need to press and hold down on a particular post to know the accurate time the message was sent to them.The changes will affect all versions of the app used on the Apple iPhone's iOS, the Android operating system, as well as Windows phones, Nokias and Blackberrys. Thousands of regular devotees and pilgrims from far and near converged at the Golden Temple to pay obeisance to the holy book Guru Granth Sahib, light candles and offer prayers for the well being of their families. A devotee, Gurvinder Singh, said people from far off places visit the holy temple to seek blessings for a better future. Allahabad, Nov 7 (ANI): Thousands of devotees converged at holy River Ganges in India's northern Uttar Pradesh state to take a holy dip on the occasion of 'Kartik Purnima' or full moon day on Thursday. Devout Hindus thronged river bank in northern Allahabad city to perform rituals at the confluence of three holy rivers-- Ganges, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati. As per tradition, holy dip in River Ganges is described as auspicious on full moon day as it leads to salvation. Legends say Ganges has flown from the heaven to the earth to wash away the worldly sins of mankind. Another devotee, Sushma, said earthen oil lamps are floated in the river and prayers are offered to the almighty. People in Hapur town also celebrated the full moon day.
