New Delhi/Bangalore, Aug 04 (ANI): Appropriate action will be taken against the two Indian officials if reports of their misbehaviour on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow are proved, Union Minister for Sports, Sarbananda Sonowal, said. Two top officials of Indian Olympic Association (IOA), general secretary, Rajiv Mehta, and wrestling referee, Virender Malik, were arrested in Glasgow on Saturday on separate charges. The decision was taken up with the aim of preventing further loss of human lives in the disaster prone areas. Villagers of Kalewadi village seeing the cracks in the land of the village and the walls of their houses immediately complied with the government and evacuated their houses. Gujarat, Aug 04 (ANI): Nearly 100 students have to swim through a river everyday to attend the nearest school in Gujarat - one of the developed states of India and home of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Boys and girls from 16 tribal villages in Narmada District swim to cross the 600 metre wide river Hiran and then walk for another five kilometres to reach the Utavadi village where the nearest school is located. While crossing the river, they carry a large utensil that helps them to stay afloat and contains their uniform and bags. Workers, who removed weeds from the riverbank, said river Gomti was a tributary of river Ganges only and it also required a clean up. Guwahati, Aug 3 (ANI): Seventeen people, including two children, died due to Japanese Encephalitis in Assam and 14 patients more were being diagnosed for the brain fever. Almost 570 people in India have died after contracting encephalitis, commonly known as "brain fever", health authorities said, warning the death toll may rise with more people still at risk. Outbreaks of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome and Japanese Encephalitis are common every year in India, especially during the monsoon season, and claim hundreds of lives. But this year, major outbreaks - usually most prevalent in the northern states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar - have spread to regions such as West Bengal and Assam.
