New Delhi, Nov 23 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be visiting Nepal on 25th November to attend the 18th SAARC summit. MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin stated that PM Modi would lay out his vision of what he sees as regional cooperation in South Asian region during the summit. He added that India’s intention would be to hold as many bilateral interactions as possible during Modi’s stay in Kathmandu. He also added that India’s focus would be on enhancement of connectivity and people-to-people contact.

Security Expert eyes on Indian govt's actions on Dawood's relation with Pakistan

New Delhi, Nov 23 (ANI): Supporting Home Minister Rajnath Singh who alleged that Pakistan is providing shelter to Dawood Ibrahim and the mob boss is currently staying along the Pak-Afghan border, Security Expert Praful Bakshi said that Dawood has always tried to participate in terror activities in India. Bakshi said that Dawood aiding to underworld is an old story and that Pakistan is aiding him because he has more connections and sleeping shells. Two Catholics from Kerala declared saints in Vatican

Thrissur, Nov 23 (ANI): Masses came out on streets of Kerala on Sunday after a Carmelite priest, Chavara Elias Kuriakose, and a Carmelite nun, Euphrasia Eluvathingal, from the state were declared as saints in Saint Peter's Square in Vatican City by Pope Francis. The news has elated the Christian community in Kerala as it is for the first time that two Indians are declared as saints on the same day. People from far flung areas are rushing to a chapel in a small village of Ollur, the burial place of Euphrasia, near Thrissur district to have a glimpse of her. Scores of Indian priests, nuns and devotees thronged Vatican to witness the canonisation function. Post the canonisation ceremony, the centuries-old Syro Malabar Church will now have three saints, the first being Sister Alphonsa, who was made a saint in 2008.

Japan hit by 6.8 magnitude earthquake leaving houses collapsed and injuring many people

Japan, Nov 23 (ANI): An earthquake with preliminary magnitude of 6.8 jolted central Japan on Saturday evening, temporarily trapping people in collapsed homes and leaving at least 39 people injured, police said. The Japan Meteorological Agency said no tsunami warning was issued after the quake, which was felt in capital Tokyo around 180 km away. The hardest-hit area appeared to be Hakuba village, which hosted events in the 1998 games. Many homes were lost in Otari, a nearby village to the north. Non-residential buildings were also destroyed, with officials still assessing the extent. Meanwhile, residents began going through the rubble and cleaning up their damaged homes after the overnight earthquake collapsed houses and triggered landslides. Local residents said they had little time to react when the earthquake hit.

Crowd throngs wine festival in Nagpur

Nagpur, Nov 23 (ANI): The Nagpur Wine and Food Festival- 2014 being held in Nagpur not only promised a treat to a variety of wines presented by famous brands but also aimed at creating awareness to remove the misconceptions that people hold regarding the drink. The two- day festival has been organized by Nagpur Wine Lovers Club with the help of Indian Grapes Processing Board, All India Wine Manufacturing Association, Nasik Valley Wine Club and Indo-Israel Agricultural Organization. Eight famous wine brands of the country participated in the festival, out of which the wine from Nasik was the most popular and highly demanded. Vice President of Nagpur Wine Lovers Club, Sunil Manikikar, said that the aim of the festival is to promote wines. Manikikar further added that within a month they also plan to start Wine Tourism and are promoting the upcoming event here in the festival.

Cake mixing ceremony in Vishakhapatnam heralds advent of Christmas spirit

Visakhapatnam, Nov 23 (ANI): Christmas and New Year celebrations began with the cake mixing ceremony as 150 kilograms of dry fruits were mixed with 24 litres of the finest spirits in The Gateway Hotel in Vishakhapatnam. At the hotel's lobby, scores of visitors participated in the annual ritual and enthusiastically arranged and mixed the colourful dry fruit with rum, vodka, brandy and other spirits. Chef Sarat Chandra Bannerjee said that this was organised to resume normal life after cyclone Hudhud struck the city in October. Meanwhile, tourists from Russia who participated in the ceremony said they thoroughly enjoyed participating in such a unique ceremony. The centuries old cake mixing ceremony is a ritual religiously followed all over the world and regarded as harbinger of good times.

Madhuri Dixit, UNICEF brand ambassador, dedicates Literature Carnival in Lucknow to Child Rights

Lucknow, Nov 23 (ANI): With UNICEF celebrating 25 years of its Convention on the Rights of the Child, brand ambassador, Madhuri Dixit recently dedicated the Lucknow Literature Carnival to children in Lucknow. At an event, Dixit also addressed child sexual abuse, bullying, child labour, sanitation and health issues. The carnival, a three-day event, organized by Lucknow Expressions Society is scheduled to start from November 28 and will culminate on November 30. Lucknow Literature carnival is conducted on the lines of the Jaipur Literature Festival and would include book launches, literary readings, workshops, screenings and cultural performances. Dixit, UNICEF's goodwill advocate, said that she always wanted to reach out to kids. Dixit felt that there is a dearth of writers who could write good books for children.

Dalai Lama dubs relationship between Modi govt, China 'good start'

New Delhi, Nov 23 (ANI): Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, has dubbed the relationship between India and China, post Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power, as a 'good start'. Addressing a group of dignitaries at an event on "Cultivating Key Human Values" in New Delhi the Dalai Lama said he hopes the problems between the two countries will ease through mutual understanding.
