New Delhi, Nov 22 (ANI): Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, urged the youth to preserve country's age-old tradition of religious harmony and tolerance, while delivering a lecture at a school in New Delhi on Saturday. Addressing the students, the Dalai Lama urged them to think cautiously not only about their own community or nation but humanity. New Delhi, Nov 22 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Saturday after a woman was reportedly killed while several others were injured as a stampede broke out in Badaun during Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's birthday celebrations. The incident took place when Samajwadi Party leader Dharmendra Yadav was distributing free blankets to the people. BJP's UP unit President Laxmikant Bajpai said that if the resources are less then this kind of incident occurs. Exposition of sacred relics of St Francis Xavier begins in Goa

Goa, Nov 22 (ANI): Scores of devotees converged in coastal state of Goa on Saturday to witness 17th exposition of St Francis Xavier relics. The last exposition was held in 2004. The XVII solemn exposition of the sacred relics will go on till January 04, 2015. The 44-day long exposition of St Francis Xavier, fondly referred to as 'Goencho Saib', began on Saturday with an inaugural ceremony and a procession to shift the relics from the Basilica of Bom Jesus to the Se Cathedral for public veneration. Bishop of Mangalore Aloysius D’souza, who is the main celebrant at the solemn Pontifical Mass addressed the gathering, who came from daily prayers. The exposition is held in every 10 years and this is the 17th event after the first one was held in 1782. Nov 22, 2014

Over 100 religious leaders from India and abroad attended the ceremony. The 19-year old Shaban Bukhari is pursuing his bachelors in social work at Amity University. The post of Naib Imam puts him in the line to become the Shahi Imam of the Jama Masjid. The Delhi High Court had earlier stated that anointment of Shaban Bukhari as successor to Shahi Imam has no legal sanctity; however, it had refused to stay the anointment ceremony. Nov 22, 2014

J and K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah hits out at opponents for demanding polls in flood hit state

Bandipora, Nov 22 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday hit out at his opponents for demanding elections in the state in wake of massive floods. Abdullah alleged that central ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), opposition Congress party and state's main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), didn't care for distressed people. Hundreds of people were killed and thousands of villages were devastated by the worst flooding in decades in the Kashmir valley. Roads in Srinagar, Kashmir's main city, were transformed into stagnant canals strewn with wreckage, trash and dead animals. Meanwhile, Abdullah also replied to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's allegation that state government was enmeshed in corruption. Bharti inaugurated the national conference, 'Jal Mathan', which will take up consultations with state irrigation ministers, secretaries for water resources. The three-day conference will also discuss issues like water security, water projects, farm water management and rejuvenation of water bodies. Bharti said the government would address concerns of the states and environmentalists. Barabanki/ New Delhi, Nov 22 (ANI): Supporters of the ruling Samajwadi Party leader Abhay Singh were caught on camera mercilessly thrashing toll plaza attendants in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh in broad daylight. No formal complaint has been filed with the police yet. Although Barabanki SP Abdul Hamid said that case lists names of three unidentified people and investigations are on. The whole incident was recorded by a close circuit camera inside one of the booths. Condemning the state government, party president in UP, Laxmikant Bajpai said that if police don't take action in the case, people of UP will take action during the state polls. BSP leader Sudhindra Bhadoria and Congress' Rashid Alvi also took jibe on SP government in UP and said that law should take its course or else it could lead to further depleting the law and order situation in the state.
