Indore, Oct 09 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the fourth Global Investors Summit in Indore on Thursday on Thursday said that progress of states necessary for the country's progress. With an aim to attract investors, Modi asid that employment generation is the topmost priority in development plan. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had inaugurated the three-day Global Investors Summit on Wednesday and invited business leaders from across the world to invest in his state.

Two die in building collapse in Bangalore

Bangalore, Oct 8 (ANI): A building collapsed in Bangalore on early Thursday morning killing two, including a child. Residents of Ulsoor region, which is one of the oldest localities in Bangalore, woke up at 1.30 am to resounding crash of the building, which was weakened due to heavy rains. Authorities rushed to the spot and two people were rescued. The collapse also brought down an adjoining house. A resident, Geeta, said that the building was more than ten years old and was expected to fall any moment. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, the city’s civic body was blamed for not taking timely action.

Don't want to see death of civilians or military personnel: US Senator on Pak ceasefire violations

Suspected militant guide arrested in Kashmir

Poonch, Oct 09 (ANI): Police apprehended a suspected militant guide who acted as an over ground worker (OGW)on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. The man arrested has been identified as Wali Mohammed, a 65-year-old resident of Qasba village on the Indian side of the LoC. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Poonch District, Shamsheer Hussain said that the police will only be able to ascertain the associations of Mohammed after thorough interrogation. Mohammed is said to have crossed over the LoC in 2012 and then again he crossed over to the Indian side to return to his native Qasba village. Hussain added that OGWs living close to the LoC posed a great threat.

Special camps being arranged for people fleeing the border villages of Kashmir

Samba, Jammu, Oct 09 (ANI): Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have taken swift action to arrange special camps for the people fleeing the border areas as fighting intensified between India and Pakistan in the disputed Himalayan region, wounding a dozen along a more than 200-km stretch of border. According to Inspector General of paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF), Jammu Frontier, Rakesh Kumar, security has been beefed up in the border areas and infiltration routes.

Bhutan King and Queen visit holy Buddhist shrine in Varanasi

Varanasi, Oct 09 (ANI): Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and his wife Jetsun Pema recently visited the holy Buddhist site in temple town of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. Wangchuck and his wife Pema planted a Bodhi sapling in the Sarnath temple of Varanasi and subsequently held prayers along with the Buddhist monks. A group of delegates from Bhutan also accompanied the royal couple. Another Buddhist monk, Bante Shivali said that people from across the world visit Sarnath which is spiritually significant. Lord Buddha had gone from Bodh Gaya to Sarnath about five weeks after his enlightenment.

India's UNICEF Ambassador Aamir Khan raises concerns about malnutrition in Nepal

Kapilvastu, Oct 09 (ANI): India's UNICEF ambassador and versatile Bollywood actor, Aamir Khan, raised concerns on the issue of malnutrition in Nepal as he met health workers and discussed their grievances on his three-day visit to the Himalayan nation. Khan said that UNICEF was keen that he should expand his responsibility not just as a national ambassador, but for the entire region of south Asia. During his stay, Khan visited various villages in Kapilvastu district to check the functioning of health facility centres and initiated awareness on the issue. Among the villages in the Kapilvastu district, he spent an hour in Pakadi village health centre and observed how the health workers screen children with malnutrition under factors of height, weight and other measurements. Meanwhile, he also visited Simrauli village where he met mothers and female community health volunteers (FCHV) and interacted with them.

Kanpur, Oct 09 (ANI): As customers preferred Chinese items ahead of Diwali, shopkeepers in Uttar Pradesh urged government to start making policies for 'Make in India' initiative to compete in the market. Traders in Kanpur said that to compete with demand for cheap Chinese lamps and lights, the government should formulate policies. A shopkeeper, Hanumanth Dikshit, who has been selling Chinese lights since 15 years now said Chinese products have a strong hold over the market.
