Law student allegedly raped, beaten in Meerut; condemning reactions flow

New Delhi/ Chennai, Feb 09 (ANI): A 22-year old law student was allegedly raped by her landlord for refusing to have a baby with him and beaten up in Meerut. Condemning reactions from social activists and political leaders flowed on Monday over the incident. Social activists Annie Raja, Sudha Ramalingam and Abha Singh condemned the law and order for such crimes which are taking place on daily basis in the country. Singapore President meets Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam met Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi on Monday. Yam arrived in national capital on Sunday on a four-day visit to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. President Yam, who is accompanied by his wife Mary Tan, will also inaugurate an exhibition, "The Peranakan World: Cross-Cultural Art from Singapore and the Malacca Straits" at the national museum in New Delhi. As per media reports, Yam will also launch the Singapore-India Commemorative Book published by the Institute of South Asian Studies. Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje attends 1st NITI Aayog meeting, discusses problems facing the state

New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje among other state chief ministers attended the first NITI Aayog meeting headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi. Presenting her views at the first meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog, Raje suggested for allowing the states to prepare and implement various development projects as per the regional conditions and providing central funds for such schemes. Raje also suggested for setting-up an empowered-committee under the NITI Aayog for coordination and resolution of issues of various projects initiated by various ministries and state governments. She also suggested to restrict the number of centre-sponsored schemes to 10 and to allow the states for utilisation of rest of the funds for such central schemes.

Japanese tourist allegedly raped by tour guide in Jaipur, investigation on

Jaipur/ New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): In yet another shocking case of crime against women, a 20-year Japanese tourist was raped by a man claiming to be a tour guide in Jaipur. The incident reportedly took place on Sunday night when the Japanese tourist was visiting the city. The accused later lodged a complaint at a police station in Dudu and a hunt to nab the accused is on.
