Singapore President meets Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam met Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi on Monday. Yam arrived in national capital on Sunday on a four-day visit to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. President Yam, who is accompanied by his wife Mary Tan, will also inaugurate an exhibition, "The Peranakan World: Cross-Cultural Art from Singapore and the Malacca Straits" at the national museum in New Delhi. As per media reports, Yam will also launch the Singapore-India Commemorative Book published by the Institute of South Asian Studies. Meanwhile, Yam and his wife also laid floral wreath at memorial of iconic freedom fighter, Mahatma Gandhi, at Rajghat. Feb 9, 2015

New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje among other state chief ministers attended the first NITI Aayog meeting headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi. Presenting her views at the first meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog, Raje suggested for allowing the states to prepare and implement various development projects as per the regional conditions and providing central funds for such schemes. Raje also suggested for setting-up an empowered-committee under the NITI Aayog for coordination and resolution of issues of various projects initiated by various ministries and state governments. She also suggested to restrict the number of centre-sponsored schemes to 10 and to allow the states for utilisation of rest of the funds for such central schemes. Feb 9, 2015

Panic grips Bhopal city as number of swine flu deaths continues to rise

Bhopal, Feb 09 (ANI): Panic grips Bhopal city as 11 people have died due to the deadly swine flu. Twenty fresh cases of swine flu have come to notice, taking the total number of cases diagnosed in the city so far to 65. In the last two days, swine flu has claimed three deaths in Bhopal. Doctors at JP Hospital in Bhopal said on Monday that they had adequate facilities in place for swine flu. Patients have been thronging hospitals for check ups as soon as they notice any flu symptoms fearing it to be swine flu. Swine flu is transmitted to people primarily from ticks and livestock animals with an incubation period of up to nine days. Human-to-human transmission takes up to two weeks.
