New Delhi, Dec 27 (ANI): Jharkhand CM designate Raghubar Das on Saturday met BJP president Amit Shah. Das said that he had come to thank Shah and assure good governance in Jharkhand. Das has been scheduled to take over as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand on Sunday. The oath-taking ceremony will take place at the Morhabadi ground in Ranchi at 11 a.m. which is likely to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among other dignitaries. Patna, Dec 27 (ANI): Four JD (U) MLAs have been disqualified for indulging in ‘anti-party activities’ on Saturday. The disqualified Bihar MLAs are Ajit Kumar who was elected from Kanti, Suresh Chanchal from Sakra, Poonam Devi from Deegha and Raju Kumar Singh from Sohebganj. The order was passed by Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary while citing anti-defection law. Six die as cold wave tightens grip in India

Saharsa, Dec 27 (ANI): At least six people have died in Bihar due to extreme cold wave conditions, officials have confirmed. All the deaths were reported from Saharsa district in the state. Intense cold wave conditions continued unabated across India with mercury touching new lows. Saharsa district magistrate, Shashi Bhushan, said a probe has been ordered into the deaths. The cold has inconvenienced locals on the streets as they struggle to find means to keep themselves warm, often burning scraps of rubbish to create a bonfire. Soma, the mother of the deceased, said they rushed him to a local hospital after he felt uneasy, but could not survive. The sudden dip in temperatures is said to have been caused by snowfall in the Himalayas and has adversely impacted the upper half of the country. Ghaziabad /New Delhi, Dec 27 (ANI): Indian capital New Delhi recorded its first swine flu death. The deceased identified as Sheel Goel, resident of East Model Town in Ghaziabad was admitted to the ICU of Ganga Ram Hospital in a serious condition on December 21. She was tested positive for swine flu. She was earlier being treated in a local hospital in Ghaziabad. The authorities claimed that the victim had come from South Africa few days before her death. Five dead in fire at Bhiwandi timber warehouse

Bhiwandi, Dec 27 (ANI): At least five people suffocated to death after a massive fire broke out at a timber warehouse in Maharashtra's Bhiwandi area during the wee hours of Saturday. According to reports, four others have been injured in the fire. The cause of the fire has not been ascertained as yet but it was brought under control by daybreak after a four-hour operation. All those died are residents of Nepal and worked as labourers. The injured have been admitted to a local hospital where the condition of three is reported to be serious. Security stepped up along border in wake of attacks in India's northeast

Kanpur/ New Delhi/ Assam, Dec 27 (ANI): Director General (DG) of Seema Sashtra Bal (SSB) or armed border force on Friday (December 26) said they would cooperate with army and police against the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), the tribal militant group that had shot dead more than 80 people in Assam this week. India has also sought help from Bhutan, Myanmar and Bangladesh in an offensive against the militant group. Some militants may have fled to neighbouring Bhutan while their leader is believed to be in Myanmar, officials and police said, prompting calls for cooperation. Meanwhile, SSB DG B.D. Sharma said the problem was intense in the region due to open border.
