Bihar BJP MLAs may support Jitan Ram Manjhi during vote of confidence, Politicos react

New Delhi/Patna, Feb 19 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday stated that the central leadership will study the ongoing political crisis in Bihar and will announce its decision with regards to supporting ousted Janata Dal (United) and Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi at the floor of the state assembly 'very soon'. Meanwhile, JD (U) leader Ajay Alok accused the BJP of orchestrating the crisis in Bihar. CPI leader CPI leader Atul Anjan also expressed similar sentiments. Earlier this week, JD (U) chief Sharad Yadav had suspended seven ministers loyal to Manjhi from the party, claiming that they have not followed the party directive. Manjhi remains confident of gaining the vote of confidence in the Bihar Assembly, ahead of the floor test on Friday.

Hospitals equipped to deal with swine flu rush, says Health Minister

Bengaluru/ Kangra/Allahabad, Feb 19 (ANI): Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda said that hospitals in the country were well equipped to deal with swine flu cases. India has seen a sharp rise in the number of swine flu deaths and reported cases this year, prompting officials to investigate the cause and step up efforts to combat the virus. Meanwhile, one more person succumbed to swine flu in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. The hospitals in Uttar Pradesh also are taking stringent measures to check the spread of H1N1 virus in its premises.

Militancy spares no religion, says Christian leader Ignatius Aphrem-II

New Delhi, Feb 19 (ANI): Supreme Head of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church, Ignatius Aphrem-II urged nations to unite against militancy saying that its victims were not members of a particular religion. Speaking with mediapersons in New Delhi, Ignatius Aphrem-II expressed his concerns over brutal killings by the militants of Islamic State and repeated attacks on churches in India’s national capital. The insurgent group has expanded its reach around the Arab world. The group, on February 15 released a video showing the beheading of 21 Egyptian Christians. Ignatius Aphrem-II, who is on an 11-day visit to India, arrived in Kerala on February 7. During his visit he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi and discussed the series of attacks on churches. Churches in the capital have reported incidents of arson, vandalism and burglary for some time now.

No ban on media, public contact is priority: Manish Sisodia

Kite Festival celebrated to strengthen bond between people in Manipur

Manipur, Feb 19 (ANI): A large number of people belonging to different ethnic communities gathered at the Telou Paokuan Chingol in Imphal to celebrate the Kite festival. The festival was organized by Manipur Kite Club in association with Pari Puri Pukei Eco-tourism Centre, Telou with an aim to strengthen ties between people of the hills and the valleys. A variety of colorful kites soaring high in the sky were a huge attraction. As a part of the celebrations, young artists from Meitei community performed the Lai haraoba dance. Cultural troupes from different tribes like Tangkhul, Chiru and Kuki performed their traditional dances. Such festivals promote brotherhood and harmony among various tribes and communities in the region.
