After formal training for Barcelonas La Liga match against Sporting de Gijon on 15 February, Lionel Messi astounded singer-songwriter Eros Ramazzotti with his goal-scoring skill. The Italian musician, who had performed in Barcelona on 14 February, joined Messi, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets and head coach Luis Enrique for a kick about, and suggested Messi shoot at a nearby goal - which had its goalmouth facing away from them. Nigel de Jong talks of ‘winner’s mentality’ after joining LA Galaxy

The LA Galaxy presented their latest acquisition on 16 February, in the shape of former Dutch international Nigel de Jong. The 31-year old midfielder negotiated a release from the final two years of his contract with AC Milan to come to the MLS club in Los Angeles that now features Robbie Keane, Steven Gerrard and Giovani dos Santos among its roster.
