Hazaribagh, June 17 (ANI): Veteran BJP leader LK Advani on Tuesday met BJP leader Yashwant Sinha who has been in judicial custody for the past 2 weeks. Sinha was arrested for ordering BJP workers to tie up an Electricity Board official in Hazaribagh. BSE closes points 330.71 up on June 17

New Delhi, June 17 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 330.71 points up to stand at 25,521.19. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 98.15 points up to stand at 7,631.70. JPINFRATEC and IRB Infra were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 12.82% and 7.82% along with Hindustan Copper and Berger Paints with an increase of 5.65% and 5.55% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include Suzlon Energy and Sun TV Network with a decrease of 4.99% and 2.21% along with Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. and Bhushan Steel with a decrease of 2.14% and 1.94% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 95.20 points at 15,127.03 while the banking sector is down 392.23 points at 17,612.82 and the realty sector is up 18.49 points at 2,047.24. Activists in red corridor of Odisha use puppetry as tool to make contact at grass root level

Malkangiri, June 17 (ANI): Activists used puppetry as a medium to spread awareness about the use of technology for development in red corridor of Odisha. Volunteers of a nongovernmental organization (NGO) CGnet Swara held puppet shows on the streets of Malkangiri district in a bid to make the tribals aware about the correct use of technology at times of trouble. Puppet shows were conducted to educate the locals about usage of mobile phones as a medium to get connected with people across the country. Tribals were being taught how to record their messages in the mobile phones related to the various problems they face on a day to day basis. The messages are then sent to workers of the NGO who then verify it and make reports available for journalists and policy makers in order work out a solution. Jun 17, 2014

Parents pray for safe return of their only daughter to India from Iraq's war zone

Kochi, June 17 (ANI): Parents of a girl Silvy Varghese, who is stranded in Iraq's war zone, prayed for her safe return. Varghese, 26, working as a nurse in Iraq hospital, had left India one and a half years back. Varghese had called her parents on June 16 stating that conditions were getting worse with each passing day and they were not allowed to step outside the hospital as most of the girls wanted to return back home. Meanwhile, Kerala Nurses Association has appealed the state and central governments to intervene urgently to ensure emergency evacuation of stranded nurses especially in Iraqi cities of Tikrit and Mosul. A section of media reported that India would draw a plan to rescue 87 Indians, who are held up in Iraq's Mosul and Tikrit - areas under attack by militants. Onion prices rise in Maharashtra

Nagpur/ Mumbai / New Delhi/ Chandigarh, June 17 (ANI): Onion prices were increased across Maharashtra on Tuesday in wake of labourers' strike over a wage hike demand in the biggest wholesale market in Nashik city. The states of Maharashtra and Karnataka account for 45 per cent of onion produce in the country and if supplied from these two key states are hit, onion prices tend to spiral. The central government has asked the state government to sort out the issue. Nine killed as bus falls into a gorge in Himachal Pradesh

Sirmour, June 17 (ANI): At least nine people were killed and 40 injured when a tourist bus fell into a deep gorge in hilly state of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday. The bus coming from Uttar Pradesh with 55 passengers, met with the accident in Sirmour district. District officials immediately rushed to the scene with rescue and medical teams.
