Bihar govt ready with all measures water level increases in Kosi River: Vijay Chaudhary

Patna, Aug 03 (ANI): As a flood like situation arose in Bihar with the increase in water level in the River Kosi, state Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said that all safety measures are undertaken. He said that he along with the state Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi will visit the spot to take the aerial view of the situation. Chaudhary also said that the Nepal government is ready to help in whatever way they can to free the flow of water. The state government has so far evacuated 20,000 people living along the embankment of the Kosi River as a 10-metre high wall of water is expected to sweep down the river from Nepal soon, officials said. AIADMK stage protest against Sri Lankan govt over Jayalalithaa- Modi article

Chennai, Aug 03 (ANI): AIADMK on Sunday staged protest against Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse in Chennai city of Tamil Nadu. The protest came after the officials of Sri Lankan government defence ministry published an article ‘how meaningful are Jayalalithaa's love letters to Narendra Modi'. Protesters carried black flags, shouted slogans and stepped on Rajapakse's photograph, showing anger against the neighbouring nation. Film show on Mirza Ghalib enthralls audience in Srinagar

Srinagar, Aug 03 (ANI): People attended a special film show on renowned Sufi poet, Mirza Ghalib, in Srinagar city of Jammu and Kashmir in large numbers. The film was screened in the auditorium of Radio Kashmir, which is controlled by the Indian government and a non-commercial radio station operating from Kashmir. Ghalib, the most prominent Urdu and Persian poet of India during the Mughal period, took to poetry recital to boost languages. His poetry comprised mostly of romance, love and sadness. In order to honour the poet and highlight his contribution to Urdu poetry, the radio station screened a film on him in collaboration with Actors Creative Theater (ACT) group. PM Modi reaches Nepal: Politicos hope for strengthened ties

New Delhi, Aug 03 (ANI): Political leaders on Sunday expected strengthened bilateral ties as PM Narendra Modi reaches Nepal for his 2-day visit. BJP leader Yogi Adityanath said that international relations had been weakened in the last 10 years but now with Modi as the PM they will again strengthen. PM Modi reaches Nepal, receives Guard of Honour

Kathmandu, Aug 03 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday arrived in Nepal's capital Kathmandu for a two-day official visit. Modi was received by Nepalese Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, senior ministers and the Indian Ambassador Ranjit Rae at the airport. The government of Nepal presented a guard of honour for Modi, leading a 112 member delegation which includes key ministers, senior government officials, business leaders as well as journalists. New Delhi, Aug 03 (ANI): As a flood alert in Bihar was issued followed by evacuation of thousands of people in the wake of a massive landslide in Nepal, politicos on Sunday urged for taking proper measures in advance to ensure minimal damage. Two suspected Pakistan-based militants sent to police custody in New Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 3 (ANI): Authorities produced two suspected operatives of Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) before the court in New Delhi and were remanded to police custody till August 12. Delhi police had arrested suspected LeT operatives Abdul Subhan and his aide Asahbuddin on July 20 for their alleged role in conspiring terror attacks in Delhi and other areas. They were produced before the court after their remand expired and Delhi police sought the extension of their custody. LeT is a Pakistan-based militant group accused of orchestrating attacks in India, including the 2008 Mumbai attack that killed 166 people. Aug 3, 2014

PM Narendra Modi leaves for two-day Nepal visit

New Delhi, Aug 3 (ANI): Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi left New Delhi for his two-day visit to Nepal on Sunday to take forward his initiative of economically integrating South Asia. Modi's visit to Nepal will be the first bilateral engagement by an Indian prime minister in 17 years. He will address business leaders and may also announce economic aid for the neighbouring country. Politicos give mixed response to judges remark on introducing Hindu religious books in first grade

Ahmedabad/New Delhi, Aug 3 (ANI): A remark by a judge of Supreme Court stating that mythological texts of Mahabharata and Bhagwad Gita should be introduced in the academic curriculum for first standard students instead of in high school drew mixed response. Addressing an international conference, Justice A.R. Dave said that if in a democratic country everybody is good, then they would naturally elect someone who is very good and that person will never think of damaging anyone. Flood threat in Bihars Kosi river, People move to safer locations

Bihar, Aug 03 (ANI): A huge evacuation drive has been launched in eight districts of Bihar and the state government has been put on high alert due to the Kosi flood threat.
