UN Chief Ban Ki-Moon visits Baghdad for talks with Iraqi leaders

Baghdad, July 24 (ANI): United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon arrived in Baghdad on Thursday for talks with Iraqi leaders on the ongoing fighting with the Islamic State and formation of a new Iraqi government. Ban, who has been on a Middle East tour to seek an end to the fighting in Gaza, is expected to hold a joint news conference with Iraq_s Shi_ite Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and meet with the new Speaker of Iraq_s parliament Salim al-Jibouri. The advance by Sunni Islamist militants who seized swathes of northern Iraq last month has put the OPEC oil producer_s survival in jeopardy. Relative of victims mourn as death toll reaches 48 in Taiwan plane crash

Taiwan, July 24 (ANI): At least 48 people were killed and 10 people were injured when a twin-engine turboprop plane crashed while attempting to land in Taiwan_s Penghu Islands, said Taiwan_s Civil Aeronautics Administration. Taiwan_s Vice Minister of Civil Aeronautics Administration, Li Wan-Li confirmed on Thursday that a black box had been found for the TransAsia Airways turboprop plane that crashed during a thunderstorm. Meanwhile, relatives of the victims mourn their death and questioned the administration on lack of safety precautions. Relative of another pilot who was killed in the crash mourned on her loss. Police kill Maoist in encounter; recover arms in Jharkhand

Khunti, July 24 (ANI): Police killed one Maoist in an encounter and also recovered a huge cache of arms in red corridor of Khunti district in Jharkhand. On a tip off, police launched a joint operation along with paramilitary, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in an area where 20 to 25 rebels were estimated to be hiding. During the search operations, Maoists started firing at the police and during the encounter one Maoist was shot dead.
