Ban Ki-Moon said that he paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Sabarmati Ashram and said that he hoped Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals will keep inspiring the lives of all people in the world. New Delhi, Jan 11 (ANI): Political leaders reacted on Sunday as Vibrant Gujarat Summit-2015 is being held in Gandhinagar. Minister of State in Parliamentary Affairs Mukkhtar Abbas Naqvi said that Narendra Modi's government has promoted Make in India concept through Vibrant Gujarat summit to enhance trade and business in the country. BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said that any other state can also conduct its own summit to promote business. Meanwhile, Congress leader PC Chacko said that PM Modi always turns to Gujarat as if it is the country’s capital. Woman attacked with acid in Delhi, Social activists condemn

New Delhi, Jan 11 (ANI): Social activists on Sunday strongly condemned the acid attack on a 30-year-old woman that took place in North West Delhi's Keshav Puram area. According to the reports, the woman suffered severe burns when two bike-borne men threw acid on her. One of the accused arrested by the police has been indentified as the woman's landlord. Complaint lodged against teacher after she strip-searched students on suspicion of theft in Gurdaspu

Gurdaspur/New Delhi, Jan 11 (ANI): A female teacher in a government school in Gurdaspur district of Punjab has been booked for strip-searching seven girls after she suspected them of stealing 500 rupees from her wallet. When the accused teacher could not find the money after frisking the girls, she asked them to pay a fine of rupees 50 each in order to recover her loss. The incident came to light when the students narrated their ordeal to their parents, who then complained about the incident to the police. Recalling the unfortunate incident, one of the victims, Kajal, said that they were strip-searched thrice by the teacher. NDFB(S) platoon commander killed in encounter

Kokrajhar, Jan 11 (ANI): Self-styled platoon commander of tribal militant group National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Sonobijit) was killed in an encounter with joint team of police and armed border force in Assam. Identified as Jwblang, he was involved in the December 23 attack on Pakhriguri village in Assam in which five tribal people were also killed. Last month over 80 people were killed in militant attacks in different districts of the northeastern state. Police believe that a faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), was behind coordinated attacks on tea plantation workers and their families.
