Situation worsening due to floods, assure all possible help: Omar Abdullah

Jammu, Sep 06 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday said that the state has never witnessed such a flood situation in the past 50 years which is worsening day by day. He said that the priority of the State government is to rescue the people and give them basic care and later think about their rehabilitation. Abdullah also said that he is not bothered about whether the Centre terms it as a 'natural calamity' or not as long as help comes for people. He also thanked the NDRF and Armed Forces for their rescue efforts and assured the people that the State government will leave no stone unturned to protect the people in flood-hit areas. Sep 6, 2014

New Delhi, Sep 06 (ANI): A delegation of Aam Admi Party on Saturday met the President to discuss the situation on government formation in Delhi. AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal said that the meeting went quite well and added that the party had put forth a few points before the President. Kejriwal said that none of the three major parties- Congress, BJP and AAP- has sufficient numbers to form government in Delhi and they are not ready to support any other party too. He further said that the LG giving letter to BJP to form government is against Constitution and stated that allowing BJP to form government will be the murder of democracy. Eight killed as roof collapses in Gurdaspur

Gurdaspur, Sep 06 (ANI): Eight members of a family died due to roof collapse in Dhallan village of Gurdaspur district in Punjab on Saturday. One of the family members has been seriously injured and shifted to a hospital in Amritsar. According to the villagers the family members were geared up for wedding ceremony of their daughter, which was supposed take place just after two days in the house. "Fragrances of the Northeast" festival promotes films, food and craft of the region in capital Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 07 (ANI): The three-day long film festival at Siri Fort Auditorium complex in Delhi attracted a large crowd. Inaugurated by Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar, the festival showcased eight films from the Northeast. They included Jhanu Barua's Assamese film Ajeyo and Pradip Kurbah's Khasi film Ri: A Homeland of Uncertainty. Several film personalities from the northeastern states were felicitated during the event. On the opening day, Assamese singer and composer Papon along with his band 'The East India Company' enthralled the audience. He sang a number of his hits in Assamese, Punjabi and Bollywood songs as well. Internationally-acclaimed Naga pianist and singer Nise Meruno and choir group "Nagaland Singing Ambassadors" also mesmerized the audiences with their dazzling performances. The festival also showcased an exhibition of handicrafts from the northeastern states. A painting exhibition organized by the Lalit Kala Akademi was also a part of the event. Sep 7, 2014

PM Modi leaves for JandK to review flood situation
