MS Dhir joins BJP, says others from AAP should do the same

New Delhi, Nov 21 (ANI): In a big jolt to AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal before Delhi assembly polls, MS Dhir on Friday joined BJP. Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyay welcomed Dhir to the party at an event. MS Dhir said that he had no word with the AAP leaders till now but if they contact, he will advice them to join the ruling BJP too. MoU claiming German as 3rd language should not be passed by central govt: Smriti Irani

New Delhi, Nov 21 (ANI): Talking about the controversy on German language in Kendriya Vidayalas, HRD Minister Smriti Irani said that there was a memorandum of understanding that was presenting German language as the third language in India. She said that any such MoU is against the Constitution of India and cannot be passed by the central government. Irani said that she rejected to sign on the MoU when it came for renewal. The HRD Minister also said that as far as students are concerned, teachers will be made available for them on choice of any Indian language but not on German language which is a foreign language. Jama Masjid's Syed Ahmed Bukhari welcomes Delhi HC's decision on son's anointment

New Delhi, Nov 21 (ANI): Chief cleric of Delhi's grand mosque Jama Masjid, Syed Ahmed Bukhari, welcomed the decision of Delhi High Court on his son's anointment. The Delhi High Court, on Friday refused to stay the anointment ceremony of Bukhari's son, calling it a personal function. The anointment ceremony of Bukhari's 19-year-old son Shaban is going to take place on November 22 in New Delhi. HC says dastarbandi has no legal sanction, rules out stay on anointment of Jama Masjid's Shahi Imam

New Delhi, Nov 21(ANI): Delhi High court on Friday said that dastarbandi has no legal sanction whatsoever and ruled out any stay on anointment of Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid. The court ruled that dastarbandi is a private function and as the family is living there since much time, they don't need to be removed now. However, the petitioner in the case said that there is nothing called hereditary in Islam for the position of imam and a person like him, who has criminal cases going on, should not be allowed to continue. The decision of the court is of interim nature and the High Court will keep the case under consideration. The court also questioned why the Waqf board has not taken any action on the issue. Reactions pour in after Azam Khan says Taj Mahal should be handed over to Waqf Board

New Delhi/Lucknow, Nov 21 (ANI): Reactions poured in on Friday after SP leader Azam Khan said that the income generated from the Taj Mahal should be handed over to Waqf Board since the monument is a mausoleum. Minister of State for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that Waqf Board should take care of their properties and Taj Mahal is the property of the country. BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh taking a dig over Azam Khan said that Khan has not been able to take care of his own buffaloes, he won't be able to take care of Taj Mahal either. BSP leader Sudhindra Bhadoria slamming Azam Khan said that Khan has always been making controversial statements. Oppositions accuse BJP of taking credit for Indian fishermen release, BJP declines

Pak PM Nawaz Sharif to bring his own car for SAARC summit: Foreign Ministry

Islamabad, Nov 21 (ANI): Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will take his own car to SAARC meeting in Nepal next week, the foreign ministry Spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam said while in a briefing in Islamabad. Pakistan will transport Sharif's car hundreds of kilometres to Nepal's capital Kathmandu in the foothills of the Himalayas. Leaders from eight nations - Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, India and Pakistan - meet in Kathmandu for two days from November 26 for SAARC summit. Asked whether a bilateral meeting between Sharif and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the SAARC summit was on the cards, Aslam said no such meeting was scheduled so far. Nov 21, 2014

Rajnath Singh calls for comprehensive debate on special status to JandK

Leh, Nov 21 (ANI): Home Affairs Minister Rajnath Singh called for a comprehensive debate on special status to poll-bound Jammu and Kashmir granted in the Constitution. According to Article 370, the Indian government needs approval of Kashmir assembly to implement all other laws except for defence, foreign affairs, finance and communications. Singh said the ruling BJP would repeal the article, if the people of Jammu and Kashmir were ready. Singh alleged that Article 370 was impediment in development of the state. The BJP is banking on support in Hindu-dominated Jammu as well as in Buddhist Ladakh to pick up seats. The Election Commission of India has already announced the dates for assembly elections in Kashmir. The polls will be held in five-phases, beginning on November 25 and ending on December 20. BJP demands removal of tainted ministers from Karnataka cabinet

Bangalore, Nov 21 (ANI): The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) protested in Bangalore city, the IT hub of Karnataka, against the induction of four tainted ministers in the state cabinet. The protesters shouted slogans against the chief minister of the state, Siddaramaiah and demanded the immediate dismissal of tainted ministers. The protesters walked up to the Raj Bhawan (Governor's office) to meet the state Governor Vajubhai Vala and submit a memorandum to press their demand for the removal of the tainted ministers. However, the police put up barricades and did not let them in, following which, they sat down at the site and continued shouting slogans before finally leaving.
