He added that keeping in pace with the other AAP leaders joining the BJP, party chief Arvind Kejriwal too might join the ruling party sooner or later. BJP leader Sambit Patra said that he is confident that 'Iron lady' will emerge as winner and 'I run man' will lose. However, AAP leader Ashutosh said that what matters in the upcoming polls is that whether BJP will work for the people of Delhi. Authorities baffled by mysterious death of fish in Gorakhpur

Gorakhpur, Jan 18 (ANI): Senior district officials and members of Pollution Department have rushed to Gorakhpur after thousands of fish were found dead in Rapti River. Officials have warned villagers not to take and eat fish as the exact cause of the death is not yet known. There was a mad rush of villagers to catch fish once the news spread. A senior district official, Ranjan Kumar, said they were probing the mysterious death of fish. Dr. Ranjana Tripathi of the pollution department said that the initial findings pointed towards toxicity in the river water. Khunti, Jan 18 (ANI): Security forces have launched a major offensive against Maoist rebels in Jharkhand, said a senior police official. Security forces and police are raiding hideouts in Gumla, Simdega, Ranchi and Singhbhum districts of the rebel outfits' hotbed. According to police, PLFI cadres are engaged in collecting levy from contractors, small industrialists, traders and transporters. A police report in 2014 said PLFI carried out as many incidents as CPI (Maoist). The Maoists, also known as Naxals in India, are inspired by the political philosophy of China's late Chairman Mao Zedong. Kedarnath, Jan 18 (ANI): The revered temple town of Kedarnath in Uttarakhand, which was ravaged in flash floods in June 2013, is being built again ahead of the pilgrimage in the extreme weather conditions. The popular pilgrimage route known as the “Char Dham Yatra” because of its four temple towns of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri - attracts hundreds of thousands of devotees every year. The floods, triggered by heavier than normal and early monsoon rains, killed at least 822 people and displaced tens of thousands of inhabitants in Uttarakhand, a popular destination for Hindu pilgrims due to its shrines and temples. Politicos react after Arun Jaitley hit at Censor Board on resignation of its members

New Delhi, Jan 18 (ANI): Political leaders reacted on Sunday over the controversy of Censor Board members resigning alleging corruption and interference from government, after which Finance Minister Arun Jaitley wrote an article defending the government. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that there is no interference from government into the work of Censor Board. BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra also said that Congress party interfered in the Censor Board's work. AAP leader Ashutosh, however, criticized the BJP government for putting blames on UPA government. Samaraweera arrived in New Delhi on Saturday to hold bilateral talks Swaraj. MEA Spoekesperson Syed Akbaruddin's tweet confirmed that the Sri Lankan minister said the nation sees India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a huge opportunity. He had also said that the visit to India within 5 days of President's swearing-in shows the nation's priority, the tweet further said. Ahead of his visit, Sri Lanka released 15 Indian fishermen and now no Indian fishermen are in island nation's custody. Police constable arrested for throwing girl off roof

Badaun, Jan 18 (ANI): A police constable was arrested for allegedly throwing a 17 year old girl off the roof of a police station in Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh. The girl, who is being treated at a hospital in Bareilly, has sustained serious injuries on her head and pelvic bone following the incident. The police have registered a case of charging attempt to murder against the accused and are waiting to record the girl's statement. The police had filed a First Information Report (FIR) on Saturday, after the mother of the victim reportedly alleged that the accused constable had called her daughter, who had left home for tuition in the evening, to the police station where he is posted.
