Ludhiana runs for Dil ki Daud marathon

Ludhiana, Sep 28 (ANI): On the occasion of World Heart Day, a hospital in Ludhiana held a marathon with the aim of motivating people to run daily in order to maintain a healthy heart and body. On Sunday around 2500 people, including leading professionals, athletes, senior citizens, patients and doctors from Amritsar, Jammu, Chandigarh and other nearby regions participated in the marathon. The marathon was flagged off by former hockey player, Pargat Singh. In a massive show of solidarity and unity for the purpose of spreading the message of a strong heart and emphasizing on the need for a healthy lifestyle, hundreds of doctors along with their families, ran for the cause called 'Dil ki Daud' (Race for heart). Chennai, Sep 28 (ANI): Chennai woke up to a silent morning on Sunday after a Bangalore special court held Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa guilty in the disproportionate assets case. Jayalalithaa is sentenced to 4 years of jail for obtaining assets worth almost Rs. 66 crores through dishonest means during her first tenure as chief minister from 1991 to 1996. Saturday, the day of the sentence, left Chennai bruised, battered and licking the wounds caused by nearly half a day of violence and picketing. A tight security is at place outside DMK Chief M Karunanidhi's residence in Chennai, a day after AIADMK supporters burnt his effigies in protest. All business establishments and offices are shut and city's transportation also came to a halt. Jayalalithaa has been disqualified from public office for at least 6 years which, combined with the jail sentence, means that she cannot contest polls for 10 years.
