Prime Minister Modi greets nation on Navratri

New Delhi, Sep 25 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent his greetings to the nation on the occasion of Navratri, seeking the blessings of goddess Jagdamba. "As the auspicious festival of Navratri begins, I convey my warm greetings to everyone. We bow to Maa Jagdamba and seek her blessings," said Prime Minister Modi. "May Maa Jagdamba enrich our lives with strength, well-being, good health and may she keep inspiring us to serve the poorest of the poor," he added. Navratri, literally meaning nine nights, falls this year from Septermber 25 to October 3. It is a festival to worship goddess Durga. Mangalyaan sends first pictures of Mars

New Delhi, Sep 25 (ANI): Indian Mars orbiter spacecraft 'Mangalyaan' which began its rotation around Mars after its successful insertion into the orbit on Wednesday, has now sent the first pictures of the red planet. The Mars Orbiter Mission affectionately called "MOM" created history on Wednesday by making India the first country ever to have reached Mars' orbit successfully in its very first attempt. On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet also passed a unanimous resolution lauding the efforts of scientists and engineers of the Indian Space Research organisation (ISRO) for the success of Mars Orbiter Mission 'Mangalyaan'. Wipro Chairman Azim Premji said that outsourcing is a mindset of an organization to think, to act and to translate. He said that the campaign calls for demand for innovative minds and not rote learners. Obama vows at UN to dismantle ISIS 'network of death'

United Nations, Sept 25 (ANI): US President Barack Obama vowed at the United Nations to keep up the military pressure on Islamic State militants and urged those who have joined the extremist group in Iraq and Syria to "leave the battlefield while they can."Speaking at the UN General Assembly, Obama said Islamic State must be destroyed and issued a global call for nations to come together to join a US-led coalition. Before he spoke, US-led airstrikes for the third time this week pounded Islamic State targets in Syria and Iraq. He added that the United States does not intend to occupy any countries, but "will support Iraqis and Syrians fighting to reclaim their communities." He referred to Islamic State by the acronym ISIL. Navratri begins with religious fervour in India

Bhopal /New Delhi/Lucknow, Ayodhya /Jammu, Sept 25 (ANI): Devotees across India thronged the temples on the first day of Navratri when Hindus worship mother goddess Durga in all her manifestations. Navratri, derived from the ancient Sanskrit words 'nine nights', falls this year from September 25 to October 03. People stood in queues early morning on Thursday as they visited temples to seek the blessings of mother goddess Durga. Devotees celebrate the festival with religious fervour as they pray before the idol of the goddess, sing religious songs and perform aarti while observing fast. During one of the biggest Hindu festival celebrated across India in different forms and names, temples are beautifully decorated with flowers, leaves, petals, lights and the priests ornate idols of goddess Durga with new clothes and jewellery. Cabinet gives nod to clean India mission

New Delhi, Sep 25 (ANI): Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave nod to clean India mission, 'Swacch Bharat'. Law and Justice Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad, told reporters that number of plans were piloted during the Cabinet meet. The Programme consists of components for providing individual household, community and public toilets and municipal solid waste management in all 4041 statutory towns. The Cabinet also approved setting up of Clean Ganga Fund with voluntary contributions citizens, NRIs and Person of Indian Origin toward the conservation of the river Ganga. This initiative would supplement Namami Ganga Programme. The Cabinet also approved restructuring of the "Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan" (NBA) into "Swachh Bharat" Mission (rural) by a perfect synergy for clean Ganga (Ganges). Sep 25, 2014

Ganderbal, Sep 25 (ANI): Farmers remained the worst hit due to massive floods in Jammu and Kashmir as stagnant water in their agricultural fields damaged crops and affected the yield. Flood fury resulted in huge losses to life, property and economy of Kashmir. The worst flooding in the valley in 60 years submerged villages and ruined crops.
