Kashmir reconstructs its roads damaged after recent devastating floods

Ganderbal, Nov 09 (ANI): The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) on Sunday (November 09) expedited reconstruction of roads that were damaged after the worst flood in decades devastated Jammu and Kashmir. The BRO Ganderbal district, have initiated the construction of road surface with macadam and plan to complete it before the snowfall as harsh weather conditions damage the roads and cause difficulties for commuters. The site engineer of BRO, Chander Shekhar said that the road has a lot of pot holes, which can be dangerous for drivers and can cause accidents. Authorities said that the traffic flow on the road is increasing day by day as every year thousands of tourists visit the district and also pilgrims of Amarnath Yatra use this road to reach their destination.

Manohar Parrikar takes oath, speculations continue over his portfolio

New Delhi, Nov 09 (ANI): Former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar took oath as Union Cabinet Minister on Sunday, however, speculations over his portfolio continued. Parrikar after taking the oath said that his portfolio will be officially declared in a couple of hours and no speculations should be made on the same. Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said he is confident that Parrikar will get the defence portfolio and that he will perform as the nation's defence minister.

Murli Manohar Joshi to 'adopt a village' in Kanpur

Kanpur, Nov 09 (ANI): BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi on Sunday decided to adopt a village as a part of 'adopt-a-village' programme 'Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana' (SAGY). Joshi will be adopting the Dehli-Sujanpur village in Kanpur as a part of this scheme. The village was visited by various members of the Kanpur unit of BJP including its chief Surendra Maithani and BJP legislator Raghunandan Singh Bhadauria who assessed the state of the village. Maithani said that it was shocking to see that a village located near a well developed city of Kanpur was so under-developed. Resident of Dehli-Sujanpur village, Suresh Kumar said that lack of toilets in the village was a matter of utmost concern. Meanwhile, another villager, Avinash Dixit said that he could see the newly elected BJP government working towards the betterment of rural India.

Union ministers elated after taking oath, says will work with full responsibility

New Delhi, Nov 09 (ANI): Union ministers after taking oath on Sunday at Rashtrapati Bhawan felt elated on the same and said that they will work with full responsibility on whatever task ensued to them. Ram Kripal Yadav, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Bandaru Dattatreya and Dr. Mahesh Sharma were sworn in as minister of state (independent charge) in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other NDA ministers. Ministers said that the portfolio is not given to them right now but will work to come up to the expectations of Modi and the nation.

PM Modi pays respect to 'Perfectionist Eknath Ranade' on his birth centenary

New Delhi, Nov 09 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday attended RSS leader Eknath Ranade's Birth Centenary celebrations at Vigyan Bhawan as chief guest. Praising Ranade, Modi said that he was a perfectionist and looked for the same in everything he did. PM Modi expands Union Cabinet, inducts 22 new ministers

New Delhi, Nov 09 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday finally expanded his Council of Ministers and reshuffled his Cabinet for the first time after taking over as the Prime Minister of India in May. The new ministers took the oath of office at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the presence of the NDA ministers and the prime minister himself. President Pranab Mukherjee administered oath to the ministers as their names were being announced at the grand function. The first to take oath was Manohar Parrikar who is tipped to get the defence portfolio. Following him were Suresh Prabhu, JP Nadda and Ch Birender Singh who took oath as Cabinet Ministers. Bandaru Dattatreya, Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Dr. Mahesh Sharma sworn-in as Minister of State, Independent charge.

Naval accidents a matter of concern, can't afford to waste lives: Manohar Parrikar
