'Wherever there has been lapse on part of Govt, we'll take corrective proceedings'

Mumbai, Nov 19 (ANI): The Bombay high court on Wednesday rejected the CBI plea seeking to delete the name of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan from the list of accused in the Adarsh Society Scam case. The HC stated that it is for the trial court to decide who to prosecute in the case. Reacting on the development Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said wherever there has been lapse on part of the state government, the new government would take corrective measures.

Congress releases manifesto for polls in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Nov 19 (ANI): Congress released its manifesto for the upcoming Assembly Elections in Jharkhand on Wednesday. The five-phased state assembly polls in Jharkhand will begin from November 25 and end on December 20. The results would be announced on December 23. Congress unit of Jharkhand Chairman Subodh Kant Sahay addressed the media persons in Ranchi after releasing the manifesto. Sahay said if Congress is voted to power, loans of farmers will be waived off. Sahay further said medical insurance worth Rs 30,000 will be offered to people at nominal costs. One of the highlights of the Congress manifesto was party's promise to engage in dialogue with Maoists.

Media persons condemn attack by police at Rampal's hermitage

New Delhi/Hisar, Nov 19 (ANI): Media persons condemned the assault on them on Wednesday after some media persons were attacked by police during clashes with the Rampal's supporters on Tuesday. The incident occurred after followers of Rampal opened fire at police personnel standing on guard outside the hermitage, thus forcing police to resort to baton charge and firing, leaving many injured and two police personnel getting shot. Journalist Prashant Gupta said that the attack on media persons have scared the camerapersons and reporters. Another journalist, Ashok Singhal, said security has been tightened in the area and the police are preventing media from entering the area.

Training aircraft crashes in Indore, 2 injured

Indore/New Delhi, Nov 19 (ANI): A training aircraft of Madhya Pradesh Flying Club crashed at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport in Indore on Wednesday, seriously injuring two instructor pilots. The two instructors have reportedly suffered severe injuries and have been rushed to hospital for treatment. (Retd) Wing Commander Praful Bakshi said that we have to ascertain that our system in civil aviation is properly designed to undertake the training of pilots. Meanwhile, investigation has been ordered into the incident.

Students' union demands implementation of 29-year-old memorandum in Assam

New Delhi, Nov 19 (ANI): All Assam Students Union (AASU) demanded the implementation of Assam Accord, a Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) signed back in 1985, to stop illegal immigrants into the state and faciliate governance. AASU adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya on Wednesday met Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi to discuss the matter and laid down demands for the sealing of the India-Bangladesh border and detection of illegal immigrants among other things. He added Singh was aware that a proceeding regarding the Accord was on in the Supreme Court and they would require a month to fix a time frame for its implemention. Singh also said he would visit the Bangladesh-India border after December 25, added Bhattacharya.
