Finance minister Arun Jaitley meets US envoy to bolster ties

New Delhi, Nov 19 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley met U.S. Embassy Chargé D'affaires Ambassador Kathleen Stephens in New Delhi on Wednesday in a bid to boost bilateral ties. Stephens leads the U.S. mission of bolstering strategic partnership between both countries and looks forward to work closely with the new Indian government. Haryana Police arrests Rampal's brother from Satlok Ashram

Barwala, Nov 19 (ANI): Haryana Police on Wednesday arrested Rampal's brother Purshottam Das from Satlok Ashram. According to the media reports, Das has been taken by the police for interrogation. He was arrested while he was reportedly trying to flee from the ashram. Earlier in the day, dead bodies of four women were recovered from Rampal's ashram and sent to hospital for postmortem. Rampal's supporters had opened fire on police personnel on Tuesday as they moved ahead to arrest him from his ashram in Hisar. Since then, tension has been escalating in Barwala, where the Satlok Ashram is located. His supporters have repeatedly been warning authorities against trying to arrest him.

Sushma Swaraj meets Palestinian delegation in New Delhi

New Delhi, Nov 19 (ANI): External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday held talks with the Special Envoy of President of the state of Palestine, Dr. Nabil Shaath in New Delhi. Swaraj in July asserted in parliament that India's policy on Palestine issue would remain unchanged. She refused to take sides over the Gaza conflict as she said Israel and Palestine should have peace talks. Villagers offer food to police, media personnel outside fortified hermitage of Rampal

Hisar, Nov 19 (ANI): Residents of Hisar in Haryana offered food to police and media personnel positioned outside the fortified hermitage of self-styled godman Rampal, who is wanted on murder charges, on Wednesday. Residents said that after seeing the situation where police and media persons have been injured, they decided to offer help. Media persons were attacked by police during clashes with the Rampal's supporters on Tuesday (November 18). The incident occurred after followers of Rampal opened fire at police personnel standing on guard outside the hermitage, thus forcing police to resort to baton charge and firing, leaving many injured and two police personnel getting shot.
