TISS scholar from Manipur found dead at his home in South Delhi

New Delhi/Bangalore, Nov 20 (ANI): A 33-year-old Manipuri scholar was found murdered at his home in Kotla area of South Delhi on Thursday morning. The deceased Zingran Kengoo was a PhD scholar from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). The body of the deceased was discovered by his house owner's son who found him lying in a pool of blood. According to the reports, Kengoo was found with a slit throat and his head almost beheaded. A knife was also recovered from the room where the incident took place. The body has been sent to the hospital for postmortem. Meanwhile, in Bangalore a 25-year-old Manipuri youth was allegedly assaulted by three people. The Manipuri youth who was badly injured has been hospitalized. Investigations are underway in both the cases.

Narendra Modi reaches India after three-nation tour

New Delhi, Nov 20 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reached India after completing his three nation 10-day tour. Modi had left India on Nov 11 to attend the Asean-India and East Asia summits in Myanmar's capital Nay Pyi Taw. He then left for Australia and attended the G20 summit in Brisbane. He also addressed the Australian parliament in Canberra, and the Indian diaspora in the city. On Wednesday, Modi reached Fiji's capital Suva where he addressed the Fijian parliament and interacted with representatives of civil society at the Fiji Technical University. During the course of his three-nation tour, he also held a number of bilateral meetings with leaders of various countries and spoke about liberalizing the trade and investment policies in India to attract investors.

Home minister Rajnath Singh calls for debate on revoking Article 370

Bhaderwah, Nov 20 (ANI): Home Minister, Rajnath Singh has called for a debate on the abrogation of Article 370 and termed it as a national issue, which should be discussed by the people of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Singh was addressing an election rally in Bhaderwah town of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir, and said sensitive issues like revoking of Article 370, which gives a special status to the state, should not be raked up during polls for vote bank politics. Singh invited the people of the state for a national debate on abrogation of Article 370.

Police arrest murder accused Sant Rampal from his Satlok Ashram in Hisar

Hisar, Nov 20 (ANI): Police has arrested self-styled murder accused godman, Sant Rampal charged with criminal conspiracy and riot, from his Satlok Ashram in Hisar. Rampal will be produced before the Chandigarh court today. A top official of Haryana Government, Jawahar Yadav, who is officer on special duty (OSD) to chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, said the government's priority was to protect the hostages at the Satlok Ashram. On Wednesday, police brought out 15,000 people, many held against their will, from the ashram.

India does not expect power tariff rise after coal mine auctions, says Coal Secretary

New Delhi/ Dhanbad, Nov 20 (ANI): The government does not expect power tariffs to rise after it auctions more than 200 coal blocks, Coal Secretary Anil Swarup has said. The Coal Ministry on Tuesday had released draft guidelines for allocation of 74 coal blocks. The due date for coal auction is February 11. The Ministry will compensate prior allottees unsuccessful in coal auction. Swarup said that the idea was to keep a lid on tariff rather than adopt a revenue maximisation approach. The reserve price would be determined before December 22, while the bidding fees will be based on geological reserves of coal mines.

Pakistan's former foreign minister hopes for India, Pakistan PM meet in Nepal

New Delhi, Nov 20 (ANI): Pakistan's Former Foreign Minister, Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri, hopes that Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would meet his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi during the regional summit next week in Nepal. Kasuri hoped that meeting on the sidelines of SAARC would lead to initiation of dialogue between the two countries. In August, the Modi government had called off talks between the two countries' top diplomats, objecting to Pakistan's ambassador to New Delhi holding talks with Kashmiri separatists ahead of the meeting.

Afghanistan's Former President Karzai visits New Delhi, calls for neighbourhood cooperation

New Delhi, Nov 20 (ANI): Former President of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai who is on a tour to India called for neighbourhood cooperation emphasizing that India and Pakistan must cooperate and keep rivalry at bay. He was speaking at the neighbourhood lecture series 'Afghanistan and the neighbourhood' chaired by Former Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh. Karzai said Afghanistan gave high priority to India in its foreign policy. The former Afghan president said by checking militancy Pakistan can make its relations better with Afghanistan, India and other neighbours.
