Pakistani Taliban confirm death of Hakimullah Mehsud

New Delhi, Nov 02 (ANI): The head of the Pakistani Taliban Hakimullah Mehsud was killed by a U.S. drone strike in Pakistan according to several security sources. Mehsud, who was believed to be in his mid-30s and was one of Pakistan's most wanted men, has been reported dead several times before. Late on Friday, several intelligence, army and militant sources across Pakistan confirmed he had been killed in the drone strike in the lawless North Waziristan region. Mehsud's Pakistani Taliban is an umbrella of militant groups separate to but allied to the Afghan Taliban. Mehsud took over the Pakistani Taliban in August 2009 after a drone strike killed the previous leader. His bodyguard and driver were also among the dead.

Congress raises Godhra issue, says Modi's Bihar visit reflects his 'double standards'

New Delhi, Nov 02 (ANI): Terming BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's visit to Bihar to meet the families of those killed in the Patna serial blasts to be a 'political stunt', the Congress Party on Saturday raised the issue of post-Godhra riots, and asked whether he had ever visited the residence of former Congress MP Ehsan Jafri, one of those killed during the riots across Gujarat, and consoled his wife. Congress spokesperson Meem Afzal said there is tension wherever Modi goes.

Narendra Modi to meet families of Patna blast victims today

Patna, Nov 02 (ANI): Elaborate security arrangements have been made for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's visit to Bihar during which he will meet the families of the six people killed in serial blasts ahead of his massive 'Hunkar' rally in Patna on October 27. Over 1,000 Special Task Force jawans and around 100 inspector rank officers will be present at the places where Modi is scheduled to visit today. Besides this, a huge contingent of Black Cat Commandos of the National Security Guard (NSG) is also guarding Modi. The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has put Bihar maximum Alert in view of Modi's visit.

Lata Mangeshkar wants Narendra Modi to become Prime Minister

Pune, Nov 02 (ANI): Veteran Indian singer, Lata Mangeshkar said that she wished to see Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi as the next Prime Minister of the country. Modi, the challenger from BJP, is campaigning to oust the ruling Congress-led coalition. Family blames govt for kins death in Patna serial blasts

Gopalganj, Nov 02 (ANI): Family members of a deceased, who was killed in the recent blasts in the Patna, blamed government for not providing adequate medical facilities at the venue. At least six explosions in and around BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's rally venue killed five people and injured 83 on Sunday (October 27). The bombs exploded in quick succession near a crowd of tens of thousands of people waiting to hear Narendra Modi’s speech. Friend of the deceased Munna Shrivastava and also an eyewitness to the incident, Ranjit said that there were no proper facilities available at the bomb blast site due to which his friend lost his life.

BSF organizes Diwali fair

Siliguri/Coimbatore, Nov 02 (ANI): A Diwali fair was organised by the Border Security Force (BSF) 66 Battalion North Bengal Frontier at its headquarter Kadamtala in West Bengal to mark the beginning of festivities of the Hindu festival of lights. The fair was being o rganised with an aim of providing mental relaxation and entertainment to the troops and their families. Apart from different types of food stalls, the fair also had various games, cultural dance performances and a fashion show to attract and entertain a huge number of crowd. Meanwhile, in an effort to create communal harmony, people in Coimbatore also gathered to celebrate Diwali as they lit lamps at a temple and shared sweets with each other.
