Tehelka case: Tarun Tejpal remanded to six days police custody

Panjim, Dec 01 (ANI): Tarun Tejpal, former editor-in-chief of Tehelka, has been sent to police custody for six days by a Goa Sessions court on Sunday. The order was given after over an hour's hearing in the case. Goa police had asked for 14-day police custody for Tejpal. Tejpal will be taken to police station directly from the court where he will be interrogated on the alleged sexual assault case.

Three-day nationwide shutdown in Bangladesh hits cross-border trade with India

Siliguri, Dec 01 (ANI): Traders are bearing the brunt, as a three-day long nationwide shutdown in Bangladesh has hit the cross-border trade with India. Supporters of Bangladesh's ruling Awami League protested against the opposition, Bangladesh Nationalist Party for enforcing the 72-hour nationwide blockade as the latter demands for postponement of upcoming general elections. Meanwhile, truck drivers in Siliguri, carrying goods to be delivered on the other side of the border, said they depend on the daily trade for their livelihood and due to shutdown in the neighbouring Bangladesh, they have become immobile.

India's Mars mission enters second stage, successfully placed in Mars transfer trajectory

New Delhi, Dec 01 (ANI): Clearing a critical hurdle in its journey to the red planet, ISRO's Mars Orbiter Mission on Sunday ventured out of Earth's sphere of influence for the first time, overtaking the recent efforts of rival Asian giant China. The critical manoeuvre to place the Mars orbiter spacecraft in the Mars transfer trajectory was successfully carried out almost an hour past midnight.

Munger: Maoists attack train, gun down 3 GRP jawans

Munger, Dec 01 (ANI): A group of eight to ten Maoists ambushed a running train, killing three guards of the railway police and injuring two in Bihar. The incident took place in Sahebganj-Patna Inter-City Express near Jamalpur railway station in Bihar's Munger district. In the daring attack, the rebels also looted five rifles from the railway police guards before escaping from the site. The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and bodies of the dead were sent for post mortem.

Tehelka case: Fast track court should be set up, says Kiran Bedi

New Delhi, Dec 01 (ANI): Former IPS Officer Kiran Bedi on Sunday spoke on Tehelka's former Editor-in-Chief Tarun Tejpal and said that there is enough evidence to nail him in a sexual assault case. She said that the investigation should be completed in next two weeks and put into court in a month and that a fast track court should be set up to ensure speedy justice.

Tehelka case: Tejpal to appear before judicial magistrate on Sunday

Panaji, Dec 01 (ANI): Tehelka founder Tarun Tejpal, who was arrested in connection with allegations of sexually assaulting a junior colleague, will be produced before the judicial magistrate here today. Goa police on Saturday night arrested Tejpal on charges of rape and sexual assault after a local court rejected his plea for anticipatory bail.
