Vijay Pandit killed due to police apathy, says his brother

New Delhi, June 8 (ANI): BJP leader Vijay Pandit, who was shot dead last night by unidentified assailants, had been receiving threatening calls since the elections, his brother said today. Lokesh Pandit told ANI that despite written and verbal complaints to the police, no action was taken by them to protect his brother. He blamed the UP government and the police for failing to take action and also demanded a CBI inquiry to nab those who committed the crime.

Preparations in full swing for oath ceremony of Chandrababu Naidu as Andhra CM

Guntur, June 8 (ANI): Preparations are on at a stadium in Guntur district where TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, will be sworn-in as the first chief minister of new Andhra Pradesh, formed after separation of Telangana. Lakhs of people are expected to attend the oath-taking ceremony, which will be held at a ground near Nagarjuna University in Guntur city. Nearly 10,000 police personnel will be deployed under the supervision of Director General of Police (DGP) J.V. Ramood and Inspector General of Police, Guntur Range, Sunil Kumar. Many senior leaders like LK Advani. Murali Manohar Joshi, Venkaiah Naidu, Arun Jaitley, Prakash Javadekar along with Chief Ministers of Goa, Rajasthan and Gujarat will attend the swearing-in ceremony. TDP in alliance with the BJP achieved a clean sweep in the state by crushing the Congress party's existence to form the state government. The TDP won 103 of the 175 seats.

Police arrest 4 people in BJP leader murder case, impose Sec 144 in Dadri

Dadri, June 8 (ANI): Four people have been arrested by Noida Police on Sunday in connection to the murder of BJP leader Vijay Pandit, who was shot dead by unidentified bikers on Saturday night in Greater Noida. Tibetans protest in New Delhi against Chinese foreign minister's visit

New Delhi, June 8 (ANI): Tibetans took to streets to protest against the visit of China's Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, who arrived in New Delhi on Sunday to meet his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj in a bid to boost bilateral ties. Protesters shouted anti-China slogan, blocked roads and burned Chinese national flag, demanding the Indian government to raise the issue of Tibetans with its neighbour. At least 131 Tibetans have died since 2009 by setting themselves on fire in protest at Chinese rule, mostly in Tibetan areas outside what China calls the Tibet Autonomous Region. A protester, Tenzin Wangcho, said they are hopeful of new Modi government.
