Politicos react on US refusal of automatic visa to Modi as PM

New Delhi/ Noida, May 15 (ANI): Political leaders on Thursday reacted over US’ decision of not giving an automatic visa to BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi if he becomes the PM. Congress leaders Meem Afzal, Rashid Alvi and Satyavrat Chaturvedi have stated that BJP always considered the issue of American visa as very prestigious and that this is a decision of another country. AAP leader Ashutosh has said that if Narendra Modi becomes the PM the whole paradigm will change. Meanwhile, BJP leader Balbir Punj said that they have not asked for any visa and when Modi will become the PM, there will be no issue of visa permission. May 15, 2014

Anti-corruption squad raids police official's residence in Bhopal

Bhopal, May 15 (ANI): A team of anti-corruption officials raided the residence of Inspector General of Police (IG) Mayank Jain in Bhopal of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday and unearthed bank documents and other disproportionate assets. The raid was conducted following a complaint filed against Jain for amassing illegal property and documents. The Deputy Superintendent of Police, anti-corruption team (Lokayukta), S. S. Udawat, said investigations are taking place. Officials also said that no jewellery was found during the raid. The anti-corruption officials, in the last few months, have carried out raids at the residence of various officials, who have been accused of amassing illegal wealth. May 15, 2014

BJP parliamentary board to meet in Delhi on May 17

New Delhi, May 15 (ANI): BJP’s parliamentary board will meet in Delhi on 17 May, a day after Lok Sabha poll results are declared. BJP President Rajnath Singh said that he has told Narendra Modi to come to Delhi on 17 and that he would convene the Parliamentary Board meeting on that date to decide the earliest date to hold BJP parliamentary party meet to formally elect Modi as their leader. Singh also added that they would welcome support from any other political party. Senior BJP leaders have been holding a series of meetings in New Delhi and discussions are said to have focused on the possibility of the party forming the next government at the Centre and changes in the organization ahead of counting of votes on May 16. Sonia Gandhi hosts farewell dinner for PM Manmohan Singh

New Delhi, May 15 (ANI): Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi hosted a farewell dinner in New Delhi on Wednesday for Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, as he prepared to leave office after presiding for a decade over the world's largest democracy. A momento, signed by all members of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) and Union Ministers, was also presented to Dr Singh by Sonia. Several top party leaders, including P Chidambabaram, Sushilkumar Shinde, Salman Khurshid, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Ajay Maken, were present for the dinner at 10 Janpath in Delhi. However, absence of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's from the send-off dinner raised many political eyebrows. Will consult opposition leaders over Mullaperiyar Dam row: Oommen Chandy

Thiruvananthapuram, May 15 (ANI): Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy said that he would consult opposition leaders over the Mullaperiyar Dam row which has been a bone of contention between Tamil Nadu and Kerala, as he mulls over a review petition in the Supreme Court for solving the issue. On May 07, country’s top court gave the verdict which quashed the law passed by Kerala on Mullaperiyar dam in 2006. A bench headed by Chief Justice RM Lodha quashed the amendments to the Kerala Conservation and Irrigation Act brought in by the Kerala Government in 2006 to restrict the water level to 136 feet. Announcing to mediapersons that the issue would be discussed in the Assembly session, Chandy reiterated that consultations with opposition leaders would be carried out first. May 15, 2014
