RBI, finance ministry talk contingency plan for May 16

Shimla, May 16 (ANI): RBI Chief Raghuram Rajan has stated that it is prepared to deal with any excessive volatility from election results to be unveiled on Friday. The RBI will also be ready to deal with any volatility in the rupee, Rajan said this during a news briefing in Shimla after discussing the contingency plans with the finance ministry and the stock market regulator. On inflation, Rajan said food prices were still a concern.

Political leaders remain affirmative as counting begins

Women leaders from SAARC countries come together in Kathmandu

Shutdown in Kashmir against arrest and death of youths hits normal life

Srinagar, May 15 (ANI): Separatist leader and Chairman of hard-line Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, called for a shutdown in Srinagar on Thursday as a mark of protest against the arrest and death of youths who were allegedly involved in violence. The city wore a deserted look as shops and other business establishments remained closed. An irate resident, Safiz Ahmed, said the commuters had to face the brunt of the strike as many vehicles remained off the roads. Sajjive Balakrishnan drew caricatures of Cancer patients bringing therapeutic effect

Kochi, May 15 (ANI): Renowned Indian caricaturist Sajjive Balakrishnan drew sketches of cancer patients at a government hospital in Kochi city of Kerala in an attempt to bring happiness to their lives and make them forget the pain for a while. Fascinated patients watched Balakrishnan sketch and were overjoyed to spend a day with him as he made their one-minute sketches with unparalleled artistry and finesse. The artist also interacted with the patients and staff at the hospital. Balakrishnan was in the hospital as part of its Arts and Medicine project.
